Be good to have seen the forwards take the penalty to make a statement for the 1st team.0
-
Their overall performance is much more likely to earn praise than slotting in a penalty. Even if someone slots in 4 penalties in 90 minutes that is no statement for the 1st team, it just means they can take penalties.mendonca said:Be good to have seen the forwards take the penalty to make a statement for the 1st team.0 -
Don't underestimate the impact of goals and being on the scoresheet. It gets you recognised and can be the difference between being on the bench or not.0

I would much prefer someone like Davison has a decent all round game to doing nothing and slotting in a penalty. Not sure about being recognised, Euell is no idiot and his feedback to Bows is going to be reliable.mendonca said:Don't underestimate the impact of goals and being on the scoresheet. A good attempt at making it seem better than a good hiding.clive said:0 -
Thank f**k for that!!
Charlton U23 starting XI | Harness, Yao, Stevenson, Powell, Trialist, Vennings, Lapslie, Morgan, Davison, Aneke, Wiredu.

Two trialists listed.
Assume these are the kid from Tooting and the kid from Met Police0 -
Surprised Smith isn't getting some minutes, unless he isn't allowed?0
-
Would be strange if so as we named him when we played against Bristol City last weekHenry Irving said:Two trialists listed.

Davison and Aneke is quite a physical front 2!2
-
If Aneke is being used up front in these games then presumably that's where he'd be used for the first team. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense otherwise.1

GOAL!! Lovely link-up play down the left involving and results in Sam Dalby tapping in from close range.9’1-00 -
Super Chuks 1-1
Goal!
Former Arsenal forward @Chuks_Aneke rattles in a cracking equaliser for @CAFCofficial here in this U23 game. Nothing @adamparkes_ could do about that.

Is that 4 in 3 for Chucks?0
-
When Chuks is banging them in like this it makes me wonder why Lee is so adamant that he sees him as a midfield player rather than a striker. Surely worth a chance up top if we have further injury problems?1
-
If only there was somewhere fans could ask Chuks direct questions about his recent form this week.6
-
5 in 3 games for him nowRedrobo said:Is that 4 in 3 for Chucks?
Hat trick against Swansea and then a goal last week against Bristol City1 -
Especially given he started out as a striker for Arsenal didn't he?Davo55 said:When Chuks is banging them in like this it makes me wonder why Lee is so adamant that he sees him as a midfield player rather than a striker. Surely worth a chance up top if we have further injury problems?
Could be wrong... but Watford obviously feel the same.0 -
it would need to be a social environment, maybe somewhere the fans could also get a drink?Henry Irving said:If only there was somewhere fans could ask Chuks direct questions about his recent form this week.0 -

That would be ideal.cafcdave123 said:

Upstairs of a pub or club would be ideal, maybe somewhere close to where many Charlton fans live.0 -
I know its the unspoken word but in the (hopefully unlikely) event we went back to league 1, I can see Chuks being a regular starter at that level - as the number 10 just off someone like Bonne.1
-
Sounds like a lively game doesn't it. I think it's probably the ideal place for Albie at the moment.0
-
Goal! You can’t take your eyes off this one for a minute! puts back in front from the penalty spot.41’2-32
-
Vennings sounds like a very decent penalty taker.
Wonder if one of those that regularly attends thinks of him. I've only seen him play more than 60 minutes once in person (Broadbridge Heath)
@Henry Irving
did the Museum receive that programme? If not I'll send my own one in.0 -
Half-time here at after a breathless first-half with in this U23 clash.45’2-30
