Not much of a hope to hold on to by the way, LB signed a few under Dutchatelet
Honestly you don't.
We've been told who we're modelling ourselves on (Burnley, Brighton, etc. Not Derby or Villa) but carry on...
If we're "only" spending £3m+ on each player I'll be gutted.....2 -

It was already mentioned last time this rumour resurfaced that Cullen cannot be recalled now.All I would say is we (Gallen and Bowyer included) didn’t think Gallagher was going. And I’m not sure Ann Summers owning David Gold is the finest authority on the intricacies of the Cullen deal.0

I'd have guessed at anything from £500k to £1m max that Brighton would have paid for him0 -
So Man Utd and Spurs both want to try and sign Islam Slimani from Leicester
Bloke has eight goals in 39-games here in England
If anyone wants further proof that the January Transfer Window is the biggest waste of time, there you go!!1 -
Right. Just a bit short of 3 million.2
-
If we start spending £3m+ on each player in the summer then we need to brace ourselves for a points deduction!!4

And prior to their Premier League days (2014/15) they got £10m for Ulloa and Buckley
Between that season and their promotion to the Premier League their biggest spend was about £8m4 -
I'm not sure Brighton in their previous Championship season were even subject to the same FFP rules? But can't find that information.0

soapboxsam said:Liverpool purloined Joe Gomez off Charlton for 3.5 million. Out of gratitude we should be first on the list for Chirivella to the end of the season. The lad will be in the shop window and then he can move to a club who pay the going rate.0

Transfer window angst is in full swing here this morning.4

But can then see a UEFA article where it says that FFP rules were eased slightly in 20150 -

Any funds received from players sold has gone straight back into strengthening the squad, as have parts of their SKY TV deal
Its the way we should be following because if it all goes tits up there will be less risk of us doing a Portsmouth1 -

Scoham said:Interesting to see how we compare with other Champ clubs in terms of number of signings.
Were any of the above clubs playing 5 youngsters in their 1st team who weren't ready (doughty the exception) and couldn't fill their bench ?
I thought not.
We had an emergency, and Bowyer was so frustrated he voiced his opinions to his new employer in public. Whether fans "Shit themselves" or " stay Chilled' the only part of the equation that matters is the guy who got us to the Championship, Lee Bowyer.
Lee Bowyer was in a shocking position because of the underfunding by Duchatelet and the worse injury crisis since 1921(a guess but you get my drift)
Deryram is only saying what we all know but leaving out the fact that when in an emergency, you should be pro active.14 -

Do yourself a favour and stop repeating it. It only works in your mind.4 -
People need to stop comparing us to other championship sides, the lack of quality we have compared to the majority is ridiculous and a fair few of them have strong benches, not to mention most don't have the level of setbacks we have had. Quite literally incomparable. There is no way we should be using other championship clubs to justify our lack of activity. Are people forgetting that's what the old lot did before and we crucified them everytime. 'We tried getting ex player over the line but it didn't happen bla bla bla'
Why is that excuse valid now?0 -

Never gone; lets just blow £3m on every player we sign because our owner is minted
Instead they've been smart in the Transfer Market - Of course we could have done the same but we didnt which is one of the worst memories of the Roland era - Imagine what we could have done from the £11m we got for Fox and Lookman that January Transfer Window, imagine the squad we could have built with that
Bit like the Carl Jenkinson money, people said we brought the League but all we did was invest sensibly4 -
No toy throwing etc but just hoped that this transfer window we wouldn't be at Poundland again. It has all the hall marks of our usual bollox.
Bowyer has said at different times that he wants 3 / 5 . Not much time for either of those wishes to be signed and in the team for Barnsley.
Still we have the guy from MLS let's hope Gallen sees something in him .
Nice to see though that ESI understand the CAFC transfer window tradition of being underwhelmed and hopefully remember to use the phrase "we had bids in for lots of players"
As per prepare to be disappointed it's in the Charlton DNA.
PS just one gem out of Bowyers 3/5 and I'll be happy7 -

If they wanted an option beyond the next few months with money no object for wages, then they'd probably have gone for Cavani. But when Rashford and Kane returned, they'd have Cavani potentially sitting on the bench earning 350k a week.2 -

I said as the Window opened, and we replaced Leko with Green that we would learn as much about ESI's budget and Philosophy by who we don't sign. After 28 days, the silence is telling.
