For everyone's sake I truly hope that Taylor stays & plays all remaining 17 games, because if we have to rely on Hemed, Davison & Aneke for the next couple if weeks we really will be in trouble. Remember, Bonne isn't likely to be back for another 2 weeks & after a hamstring injury it's best he isn't thrown straight back in again.3 -

Turned over from Sky's Deadline Day channel to the news. More excitement watching the countdown to Brexit than our transfer dealings.3

peterreeves said:Marquee signings?? We clearly have zero money and our new chairman instead of trying to be all things to mankind should have perhaps gone about his business in a quieter fashion as this is not what any of us expected. Dissapointed is an understatement and gawd forbid if tomorrow doesn't go our way as this site will go into melt down!
We live in an age of instant gratification where patience and restraint is scarce and we want it all now whether it be fast food, amazon, online binge box sets, rolling news, social media frenzies and event the repair and advancement of a hitherto slowly decaying football club.
The mismanagement and damage of the Duchatelet tenure, the Cash withdrawal and the general post- Curbishley decline will not be resolved in 3 weeks or months. It will be a gradual rebuilding process.
There is only speculation that we were ever minted or that it was going to be an instant remedy and fastrack to the premiership. People have heard and read what we have wanted to hear and read such is human nature.
I don't recall the new ownership saying we are loaded or will buy our way back to the glory days (whatever they were).
Because we have been so vigorously and repetitively bitten since Curb's departure we are perhaps a less patient and forgiving animal and our default collective position is to revert to cynicism, pessimism and anxt as a paradoxical defence mechanism against the hurt, anxt and despair that gets bestowed on fans of clubs like Charlton with unnerving regularity and intensity.
We have an engaging and optimistic new ownership that is the complete antithesis of the prior regime that we campainged so committedly to oust. They have sold their vision and potential to our trusted and revered manager. We now have realised that ambition but expect all the pieces to fall neatly into place in an unforgiving dog eat dog industry of so many variables and that will not happen overnight if at all as there are increasingly no guarantees they ever will in the perverse and illogical business model that is modern football.
The new owners are not magicians, they might be all puff and no substance but they might be genuine and earnest in their enthusiasm and if given time, support and patience, capable of executing a strategy that will undo the damage of the past 15 plus years and move us forward sustainably whilst retaining the ethos of our dear club.
Time will tell. Stepping back from the madness, gaining perspective of where we are, where we are coming from and how little time in relative terms the new ownership has been in place will serve us well at this point.
Unity between fans, with the new owners and the manager and squad and throughout the club from top to bottom will only serve to benefit Charlton in immeasurable ways after years of stagnation, fracture and dysfunction.
Let's keep things in perspective and be realistic in our expectations and be unified and positive about this new chapter until actions or real inaction over a reasonable period of time warrants other wise.

Has scored per minute nearly as often as Taylor this season...

Remember when David Mooney started for us the first time and nobody knew who the hell he was? I almost miss those days5
-
As I said earlier we’ve probably signed someone but they’ll announce it at 10.59pm.
Hoping for a big striker.7 -
Filip Benkovic from Leicester would have been an excellent loan signing, looks like he is going Bristol City though0
-
I am drinking so time will pass quicker for me re signings. Hope that rubs off on everyone else so it seems like it all moves quicker. Hopefully Lyle goes nowhere either

So his performance against Bristol city was a fluke when he scored twice and a great run and cross for Alfie's goal. He nearly scored in 5 games in a row with no strike partner !18 -
Valiantphil said:Bonne has nowhere near the quality that people are crediting him with. if he is our main striker (because something happens to Lyle) then we will go down.
Buckle up, then.

Really concerned we haven’t signed a centre half.2

People slagging off Bonne is astonishing, bloke was a revelation upfront before he (inevitably) got injured.59
