The deal works for Roland - he gets to keep the land/property which he had valued at £40m and charges rent ( presumably) to ESI
He stops incurring the annual £7-10m losses which was the bit that concerned him most.
The deal works for ESI because they just fund the annual losses which is a bet on us getting promoted to the promised land within 5 years.You would think that ESI would have had to sign a binding contract to acquire the ground within 6 months, but Roland’s probably not too worried about that either because the last thing he wants is a default so he ends up with the club back again and he’s retained the property as security anyway.So you can see how it works for ESI and Roland - the big question will be how it works out for us fans.Whilst the ownership of the property and the football club remain separated one of our worries would be a lack off investment into The Valley infrastructure.Anyway let’s all hope that the acquisition of all the property assets is concluded within the 6 month period and we start to see the promised investment in the Valley and Sparrows Lane.Probably because I’m an old cynic I wouldn’t be surprised if ESI fail to acquire the property and carry on as renters

I find it odd they would’ve gone to Muir as it would seem to suggest they’ve started to exhaust their network maybe. Time will tell
Airman has indicated the people they've approached were not on the radar in 2019. So maybe not the Aussies - they've been around for about 30 years!

Because we won on Tuesday I like them. If we lose on Saturday I won’t like them anymore.21

If they are looking at bringing in investors then surely this would be from their pool of Middle Eastern contacts that Nimer has.I seem to remember reading a quote from MS that they would be looking to bring in sponsorship/investment from that region so would make sense.3

How long was it from when ESI's involvement was first made public and 99.9% of Charlton fan’s dreams answered (simply seeing the back of RD), to some fans expecting every problem the Club faced during RD's reign, i.e. management contracts offered and signed - decent, permanent signings through the last part of January completed - more fan engagement - etc. - etc. to be completely put right I wonder?
Looking at what HAS been achieved in that time, as opposed to what the expectations were back when the first ball was kicked, it’s an A* from me. Just a shame imo the take-over coincided with the back end of the horrendous injury crisis and a dismal run of results, so I think some fans decided to turn to the new owner for immediate answers, rather than think it was possibly the shit end of the stick they received from RD.
I think it will be interesting going into the closed season to see what happens, but it’s all there to hope for, which is more than what it would have been under RD

Bowyer has said that Taylor needs to see a couple of things happen at the club before he signs. We can probably guess what they are but even if we are wrong, it is surely going to relate to stability and growth. Challenging the top end rather than trying to stay up. I think this is a message to ESI.
I am looking at this and asking myself what they have actually done that wouldn't have happened under Roland. I would say it is one thing, getting Bowyer signed on a longer contract. Other than that there are some key questions that need answers. If we get the answers and they are positive ones, all good. If for instance, they don't purchase the whole of the club as they said they have a legal commitment to, I can't see the future being good.1 -

Im still very hopeful that ESI will turn out to be good and sensible owners. If, they have said, which they did, that the entire operation including the training ground and The Valley will be theirs in 6 months (from January), then I think we should give them that time before we start saying they are 'skint', or jump to any other conclusion. I thought I read somewhere, or maybe heard it in an interview with Tahnoon, that the fans will soon know what their business plan is? If I'm right about that, it seems a good idea to wait until that information is given and to stop all the speculation about what is happening. They have been here 6 weeks, and we've had more engagement from them in that time than 6 years under Roland!10

So ESI are skint because we didn't spend 5-8m in Jan (when no one else in championship did) and because they said they will sort the ground out in 6 months.Some people need to chill out and stop fishing for any reason to dig them out. I find it very sad people are still persisting with their agenda'sI don't think ANYONE has any inside knowledge on ESI and how they are searching for new investors because suddenly have run out of money after 6 weeks. No one knew they was about to take the club over because this lot keep things very close to their chest. I will judge them in 2/3 years, not a few weeks.14

Frankly the sooner ESI own the valley and the training ground the better .
So far so good but it will end in tears if the above doesn't happen
Although Matt seems a nice guy...he is a mouthpiece..I'd like to see more serious experienced management to complement him at local level4 -

I accept their reasons why the purchase of The Valley and SL had to wait so they could get in for the January transfer window. I'll re-assess that view in the summer if they still don't own the freeholds and scratch about in the transfer window.
Until then I'm feeling positive - hopefully very positive by the start of next season.15 -

We're all still wary after the Roland hell. And the Slater/Jimenez hell. I remember Roland coming in, watching the videos with him and Katrien and feeling really positive. They said the right things, talked about developing the club, protecting our young players and kicking on sustainably. They did some weird stuff after that but I distinctly recall still feeling pretty happy at the start of the Peeters run. Felt like they'd figured some things out, instead of the junk they'd loaned us the January before we got in what looked like a decent mix of foreign imports (Buyens, Gudmundsson, Vetokele) and English league experience (Henderson, Ben Haim, Bikey, Moussa) and we all felt like they'd learned a few lessons. By the end of that window it was clear we hadn't done enough in the transfer market and things took a decidedly dark turn from there. It wasn't long before Peeters was moaning about a lack of players, Luzon was in after the world's shortest and most fictional interview process and we descended into mega chaos including the manager we don't talk about. The point is that it can take a long time before an ownership really shows its true colours and the goodwill runs out, but also a long time to become trusting again after you've been dicked about by bad ownership for 13 years. I htink we will need at least another season before we can really say how we feel about ESI and whatever background shenanigans do or don't come to light. At the moment though I'm happy that Southall is trying, engaging with fans and he's turning up to matches, which is a low bar but it's the bar that's been set.
