    That little mention of Northern Nomads FC brought some memories back, when my old man moved us oop north in the 70's, he became their treasurer. They were quite a famous old club up here back in the day.

    This is fascinating stuff, the Catford move had faded into the mists of time, even by the time I started going, 50 odd (cough) years ago. 

    I wouldn't mind betting thst the toilet repairs that got postponed did got done - probably in 1992.

    Yes and also if you watch the above footage you will see a crowd surge and collapse onto the pitch to the right side of the west stand. Watch the crowd in the first piece of match action.

    Catford , 21 year lease at a rent of £300 per year. Estimated cost of new ground £15,000 which includes removal of stand from the Valley. Humphreys to be the contractors.

    Initial response to share issue ' not very encouraging '. The board hoped to rent out The Valley.

    This decision turned out to be crucial , ' Grandstand to be moved after 1st season at Catford '. A 3rd team to play at The Valley in the Kent league.

    I think , having read the minutes that the story of compensation cases is exaggerated. There is mention of a couple of claims , one of which is shown in one of the following board meeting minutes.

    After this meeting above there is a gap of a year in the minutes. The last game at The Valley was on 8/12/23 in front of 5,000. The first game played at The Mount was on 22/12/23 in front of 6,000. This was a novelty and soon the crowds were lower than at The Valley. In this 1923-24 season 9 games were played at The Valley , average att. 6,400. 12 games were played at Catford with an average crowd of 4,500 , the highest being 10,000 against QPR. The last game of the season attracted 1,000. ' We should have stayed at The Valley ' rang around the ground according to one gentleman of Catford , Mick Everett.
