He got a lot of love from the Valley yesterday, deservedly so.
  • Lyle was LOVING it out there, he's loves being the centre of attention and thrives in that sort of atmosphere with the home crowd loving away and the away fans hurling abuse!

Hopefully Matt is putting an improved offer to his agent. Need him next season

Barnsley should've thought about supporting their own team instead of abusing our players. Quietest away fans this season

Agree the quietest away fans, but I think the Derby fans winning at home run em close.

We struggle without LT - thank God we never lost him in Jan or we would be relegated.

That Barnsley fan was right about the haircut though!

My hope with Taylor is that he is an intelligent guy so if we can show him he is better off with us, he may well sign. As for the Barnsley fans, they are frustrated but if you dish it out, you can't complain when you get some back.
  • clearly we can’t afford to get him to renew, shame because he’s brilliant.

We should consider it in terms of how much would it cost for us to buy him.

Don't blame opposition fans for hating him, I'd think he was a twat if he didn't play for us. But he does, so I don't care how much attention he wants if he's performing!

You expect home crowds to be more quiet though. Away fans are normally much louder as all the "noisy" fans are concentrated together

Wonder if Brentford would still want him if they go up? They’re playing some lovely football.

It is a good point about Brentford. Strangely the best two sides I have seen at the Valley this season are Brentford and Leeds and we won both of those games!

Who knows what we may be able to afford to pay in the Summer, when we know what division we are in next season.
Hopefully, Lyle's upcoming performances will convince Matt Southall to match any offers that Lyle may receive.

Maybe it's not just about money as everyone is assuming, he's got potentially one last contract to have a chance to play in prem whether that's off the bat or joining a team who will be there or there abouts in a year.
  • Hard not to like, Lyle. Absolute world class shithouse. The finish against Barnsley he made look so easy, none of our other strikers score that imo.

I'm pretty sure he's a stubborn soul so he'll be off in the summer. If not Prem then good enough for a top Championship where the money is a huge jump up.

Sad to think we'll probably never witness him score another goal for us at The Valley.

He also doesnt know how they'll complete this season

Mentions that the £250k that would be needed for testing, to hole the players up in a hotel like in the Premier League would pay EVERYONE at Charlton for two weeks
  • Roland was penny pinching again. Never leant his lesson with Yann, Grant, Aribo and Taylor. Have to pay good players the going rate.

He decided against paying the going rate and we are in a position where Taylor will walk for free.

Everything after that is terrifying. Doesn’t Sound like much light at the end of the tunnel.

Glad he has been so open. Knew it wasn't going to be good when his first few words in the interview were " I really hope the Charlton fans see this"

Just caught up on that video. Depressing.

Fair play to Lyle, top player and a top man. Southall is a total and utter cnut, not that we didn't know that anyway.

    Good on you, Lyle.
He has nothing to lose or gain, irrespective of what happens to Charlton because he will be playing elsewhere next season and good luck to him.
If the EFL decide to finish the season and it goes beyond 30 June then I hope that players like Lyle, who would then be out of contract and not looking to re-sign, refuse to play. They would certainly be within their rights and I'm sure would receive the backing of the courts. A contract is a contract and you can't just arbitrarily change the terms.
