A wonderful life, happy marriage, loving family, forces sweetheart. Had the pleasure of being introduced to her about 15 years ago at the Battle of Britain Memorial Day down at Chapel Le Ferne. They’re playing ‘We’ll meet again’ on Radio London as I type. It’s brought a tear to my eye. I’m a soppy old sausage ...

Such sad news. I'm so glad she lived to see the 75th anniversary of VE Day celebrations. My late Dad, who served in the army from 1942 to 1945, used to absolutely adore her. I hope she gives him one more rendition of "we'll meet again" if they meet up in the great beyond. RIP Dame Vera. What a life!

One of the last living members of the brave generation that fought so hard for our freedom and what a contribution she made to morale at that time.

    RIP Dame Vera

Just played White Cliffs of Dover.
There is a line 'the valley will bloom again'.
    Proper choked me up.
She was a Burma veteran like my dad.
  • A true legend and icon.  I can remember my grandparents dancing to we’ll meet again.  Brings a lump to the throat.  RIP
