What Page has been through, physically and mentally, you wouldn’t wish that on anyone, let alone a player who let me tell you, is highly regarded by everyone at the club, and absolutely loves representing us whenever he got the chance.
I would love nothing more than to see him be involved if/when games are played and to play well too. The pandemic might just have been a slight blessing in disguise for him as it means everyone starts at the same level. If he gets through this period unscathed, and I am confident he will, he could be a very decent option for us going forward.
I wish him all the best, it would be incredibly sad not to.
Certainly more of an attacking Left-Back compared to Purrington0 -
Page suits playing with wingbacks more than Purrington does. I don't reckon we'll see much if any of Lewis this season though. He hasn't played in over a year and he's repeatedly broken down in training and in low-impact U23 games so he'll be vastly behind the pace and at real risk of further injury. He's also out of contract at the end of the season. I doubt he'd really want to be thrown into tough games knowing he probably won't be getting a new contract with us and risk not being fit when teams are possibly looking to pick up players in the summer.I do remember that I associate our upturn in form at the start of Bowyer's reign with Page coming back into the squad though. I remember him scoring a banger against Plymouth and getting an assist against Northampton and it bringing a feeling of freshness onto the pitch as well as in the dugout. I'd love for him to play, make a difference and put his injury worries behind him. Would probably do wonders for his confidence and mental health3

Ironically that was his best spell with us because Bowyer was able to rotate him with Dasilva - Into the next season and we couldnt get another LB so Page played every game and paid the price for it
Hopefully we may see similar again with Page / Purrington swapping every so often - All depends if Doughty is viewed at the club as someone who can play LB or LWB and hasnt just been played because there is no one else1 -

He might be worth a 'pay as you play' if we end up in div 3 and the budget means we remain fishing in the shallow end of the crocks, codgers and cast offs pool.
The flashes of ability were bright indeed but they were fleeting and very far between. Much as there is affection for the chap his predisposition to awfully bad luck must make him very risky for a poorly funded third division side.0 -

Page has been incredibly unfortunate with his injuries over the last 18 months. For sure it’s been frustrating for everyone, but none more so than himself. I’ve made the point lots of times elsewhere and on here, but it’s the same principle, if something you couldn’t control stopped you doing something you love or your job over and over again for a prolonged period of time, it would cause immense strain and damage to your confidence and mental health. Page is no different. I know for a fact that he has suffered badly from this, he’s been distraught in tears and more that is just not my place or anyone else’s to say.So overall, I don’t believe what I said was harsh or untrue in anyway. To me, and certainly to others because current players have said it themselves, making jokes or comments about someone’s injuries in the game is wrong and it’s nasty and it only contributes to a worsened mental health state because players, no matter how hard they may try, see these things and they’re human, just like the rest of us.8 -

He has been injured since his very first game at The Valley and that was playing for Coventry City.
Since then it has been regularly occurring, and like Vetokele he was played when unfit,as happened at Scunthorpe..
If I was him I would consider that.
I hope he manages to play and does well, whether he gets a new contract or not, he needs this period now to go well, and I’m optimistic that it will.

@Sage has made a valid point as a result of which I withdraw my attempt at humour A few posts ago and apologise to Lewis. In my own defence, I too have had to give up work prematurely through Ill health this year at a suboptimal time financially. It is not funny and presents a number of challenges (and opportunities too hopefully). Far from seeking “cheap lols” or having a pop at Lewis, my only intention was to seek a little ironic humour from a bad situation. In retrospect I can understand that maybe wasn’t the most thoughtful thing to do and there will be no repeat.FWIW, I too think that Lewis is potentially by far the best left wing back at the club and we have missed his abilities going forward. I wish him well.8

For me, I feel obliged to speak about Lewis, as although I’ve never had interaction with him personally, I’ve spoken to a number of people who have. One specifically who has been close to him, so I know that these things do get to players and seeing them can really cause them to feel down/depressed/lose even more confidence in themselves.
He’s definitely had a tough time, and I really, really hope he plays a part because when fit, I don’t think his ability can ever be questioned.9 -

page to score a 30 yard screamer against Wigan in the 90th minute to keep us up. You heard it here first5

Bow said Lewis out 7-10 days.0
-
Yeah we surely wont see him during this period - Means he's out until after the Cardiff game at the latest
Give it two weeks back in training before being ready for selection, thats the Birmingham game and we only have Wigan / Leeds after that

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but these injuries never seem to be the same one do they? It seems that Page's body either cannot take a knock here and there or it is in the mind.
Some players simply never miss a game - it is impossible to be 100% fit all of the time so those individuals are prepared to play carrying an injury and are able to do so though pain or with an injection. Page may be one who whenever he feels a twinge starts to believe that it is more serious than it actually is. Equally, it could be that in protecting an injury on one part of his body he ends up putting extra strain on another so he ends up in one vicious cycle.
The poor lad who has, unfortunately, become the butt of all jokes. He must be going through hell and his only hope now is to sign for a club on a per game basis until such time as he proves that he can sustain his fitness. I sincerely hope he gets through this once and for all.1 -
When a player is injured, I feel the simple fan forgets one thing, that it actually.............hurts! It leaves you in pain performing basic daily activities and is not enjoyable hearing low level jokes.5

Bow also mentioned Green's ankle injury, but no real timescale.0

Well I'm not going to make any joke regarding Page and I feel genuinely sorry for the bloke.
But at the end of the day he is hardly ever fit.
With money being in short supply at Charlton he must be released at the end of the season to free up a place in the squad.
As sorry as I feel for Page he has to go.3 -
I hope Lewis Page has been putting all his free time to good use cos tragically his career as a professional footballer is over before it ever began isn't it?
27 appearances in 4 seasons, some of them very brief and none at all since October 2018.
Good luck LP in whatever you do next and thanks for all you tried to do.0 -

Was Gibbs a left back? Crazy if true.0

Don't forget poor Rhoys Wiggins! A good left-back, broke his metatarsal at The Valley against Palarse - and never really recovered. Went back to Bournemouth, and retired early.6
