Was told yesterday by very reliable chap on Chelsea coaching team Taylor turned us down for 20 grand a week and still training up the a2 with mk dons his words where what is he playing at my reply was fuck him the greedy prick and hope he plays at the valley next year
Your very reliable chap is chatting bollocks. There is absolutely no way we offered him 20k a week.

We can't even offer him 20 quid a week, seeing as we're under an embargo that says we can't offer senior players new contracts.

I think he means Taylor turned us down for a 20k a week offer instead. I think we offered him 8 under Roland but reduced that to 5 under Southall/Nimer.

£20K a week?  no wonder he turned it down, no chance of Charlton actually being able to pay that!

Weird that he hasn’t announced where he’s going yet.

Obviously not a competitive wage which he rightly rejected, but still over £250k a year to put it in some perspective.

Which is probably why he was so peed off. He said in an interview Duchatelet offered an increase, but it wasn't enough but he was willing to negotiate, Duchatelet wasn't so that offer stayed in place. Nimer and co took over and Southall removed that offer from the table before offering the lower offer. I think someone said Lyle was already on 4-5k.

Yeah but when he can quadruple that you also need perspective from his point of view.

Given the unlikelihood of a full return of crowds next season I would think players wages are likely to take a massive hit. I would guess 5k a week will be at the top end for most players outside the Premier League or those on parachute payments.

Why would he though. He's not a massive fan of football and it's his employment. I'd leave mine for an easier, less challenging role if I got double my salary.

Rangers is a challenge. Yes they might win most weeks, but they are still chasing their first title in a long time and playing European football.

He’s got the advantage of having played up there earlier in his career, so probably can speak the language and adapt to the strange surroundings
True, Scottish football isn't an unknown for him. Indeed he's even had 2 loan spells at Partick Thistle, also based in Glasgow

If you believe accounts like that you need your head testing lol.

Look at his 2 previous tweets for example

Naismaith for that amount of money and he is more of an attacking player than a defender

2nd tweet is even more funny

Jack Grealish to Leeds for £10M because of a lack of gametime at Villa he has only missed 2 league games this season and that was the case back in January when this tweet was made lol

Even worse - it was reported as "£80k per week"

But then in January we had

Barnsley are close to signing Southampton goal scorer Danny Ings. Southampton have agreed a fee in principal of £4 million with Barnsley, after Ings informed the club his dream of playing for the pride of South Yorkshire.

£4m for a striker who has scored 21 times in the PL this season as opposed to £50m for a striker who took 40 games to score in the Premier League for Bournemouth:

Desperate to rescue a top 4 spot, Arsenal are doing everything they can in order to sign English goal scoring sensation Dominic Solanke. Arsenal are willing to pay up to £50 million for the renowned premier league tally’s man.

And what the hell is a "tally's man"!!!!

The lad needs to stick to reading Harry Potter!

You'll be reassured to hear that there are plenty of words to that effect going around on Twitter, it's a cesspit on there at the best of times...

I don't believe one man makes a team and I don't believe 9 games make a season I've never begrudge a player who wants to move on to better themselves and I've never booed a returning player but I will say in this case I will go against all that and hold Lyle Taylor responsible for our relegation all he had to do was to commit to finishing the season out and he could have gone with his held high but instead he leaves our utter contempt and hatred.Hang your head in shame Mr Lyle Taylor

Lyle Taylor was under contract to play for Charlton. His refusal to do so is a slap in the face to his manager, colleagues, and club supporters.

My boycott, now entering its fifth year, prevented me from seeing him kick a football in Charlton colours. Given the recent situation, I'm thankful that I never saw him.

If he sets foot in The Valley again, may the boos be loud and long.
