Leeds United v Charlton Athletic | Wed 22 July | Post-match Thread

That didn’t go well.

Disastrous first half, as Leeds’ quality shone through. They relentlessly cut through Charlton’s ineffectual defenses.

Second half was much better after a number of substitutions, but Leeds’ control was never in doubt.

On top of that, every result has gone against us.

Leeds 4 Charlton 0

Over to you.

That's it then.  We'll be very lucky to survive at all.

Status now relies on the EFL throwing the book at Sheffield Wednesday, not hopeful

    Congratulations Luton and Barnsley

We now have to wait for the EFL to decide on Sheff Wed, have no faith though

    Well that's it.

Relegation with a proper tail between the legs whimper.

Several players weren't at the races too many times this season.

Look how much of a fight the other relegation teams put up compared to us. Disgusting.
It’s never been about fight. We have no goal threat and our defence is nowhere near good enough either.

Nothing to do with fight. Leeds are very very good, and we are very very very poor. Name a side we outplayed this season, barely one, we have got most of our results through fight and nothing else.

Always said we should have voted to call the league off and had PPG. It would have saved a lot of heartache and we would have finished a place higher.

Joke of a club right now, relegation is what this shambles of an ownership deserves.

    Oh and thanks Lyle....

What was the bloody point of playing this match. Sums up this season, we've fittingly been relegated by a last minute goal (all be it somewhere else, but that's what a bit of effort and fight can get you).

Is it fair enough to blame Patrick Bauer for undoing his Wembley magic which that free header at Deepdale? I'm going to, because I might sleep better tonight.

Just like to say, a huge fuck yout to Nottingham Forest because you got what you fucking deserved.

Sure no fight:  Leeds wage bill £46 million, Charlton £6.5 million.  Couldn't just be an absolutely cavernous gulf in resources?

Utterly pathetic. We've been up against it all season, but every one of them should be ashamed of themselves for the performance they've put in this eve. We've had the chances post restart, and we've fucked it up in the most typically Charlton way possible. This season has been poisonous, and my love for football and Charlton has been well and truly pushed to the wire. Sick of the same of shite. From ownership all the way down to players not beating the first man at corners, NONE of it is good enough. Got what we deserved, and that's sweet fuck all.

Got what we deserved tonight. Would have been an insult if we've stayed up today off the back of a 4-0 loss and a points deduction for a team with owners that might be as dodgy as ours. Other teams around us turned up in their last few games and we decided to pack it in, binning off points against Reading and Birmingham in the last seconds. The players let us down tonight, but dodgy owners and a league that can't manage itself let us down long ago. Piss of Charlton, see you in a few weeks when you'll probably still be just as much of a basketcase.

We don't deserve to stay up. We are the worst side in the division. We have the worst starting 11 by far. Our passing is under 15s level. Our finishing is Under 5s. I find watching us play to be painful, and I support Charlton. So sod it. We deserve it.

    Absolute nonsense
We were relegated when we lost 15 players to injury

Not just tonight though is it. Easy to say we played against Leeds but there were 45 other games this season.

Would of been nice to stay up but in all honestly not only do we not deserve it but if we can’t even sign our own players on longer contracts, then how are we ever gonna compete at League One let alone Championship level.

Just gutted. All those injury time goals conceded have caught up with us.
