Total faith in Bowyer - He’ll get the best out of any player.

Not every striker should be based on their goal scoring record. How bad was Bonne this season? If he didn’t get his move to QPR he woulda be awful, admitted his head was turned ffs

This season is a bit of an exaggeration when it was 3 games.

There is more to judge a striker on than his goalscoring record, but I think what we quite clearly need is a goalscorer at the moment as not many are coming from the midfield so I'm not sure it's him based on his record.

Wouldn't be a Charlton signing without people writing him off before he kicks a ball

    Upgrade on Bonne, big news

Based on what? Certainly not his goal record. I think it's a reasonable signing, but I think people got a bit over excited with Sandgaard that we were going to sign some top player who was better than Bonne, in a lower division
Well he is a 66 on FIFA as opposed to Bonne who is a lowly 65 :-)

Half decent signing but the build up for a journeyman striker is embarrassing.

All this: 4pm on one site, 4.30pm on the other site, 5pm on a different site, is making my head hurt, I think I will go and have a lie down and come back at 6pm and look on this site. I am sure CL will cover it
Don't rush getting up. After a social media goose chase, @Ollywozere is going to very kindly let us announce it on here. And i'm going Lidl at 6, so have an early tea keep yourself free around 7ish i'd say
Bit annoyed actually that Ben has let down all us ITKs with this.

Cawley, Martin Samuel, Henry Winter, Scoop Burrows, Doucher and myself have all played ball since the 3pm briefing with @Ollywozere

Thought at the time Ben was looking shifty on the Zoom call...

Not really - we also haven’t put up silly hype videos before each signed. We didn’t even do that for Maddison, who’s probably the best player in the league on his day.

I’m sure Bowyer will get the best out of him but he’s no better than Bonne

Despite being underwhelming it’s probably the best we could get on a permanent. The thought of him upfront with Aneke is absolutely hilarious

And thats why he is free and Bonne was 2m.   Let's give him a chance to play in the bowyer way and then pass judgement. Taylor came in at 28, journeyman, and did really well.  Didn't end well, but who knows?

I'm certainly not writing him off but I would've hoped to bring someone in with a bit more pedigree considering we sold our top scorer from last season when we didn't need to
  • In league one you need to threaten the six yard box. No one in our squad has that kind of physical presence. Omar changes that. It won’t always be pretty but who cares. The job is to get out of this shitey league and be able to mix it up when needed. I think Bogle gives us that presence and option.

I’m not passing judgment, he will no doubt will make us better. I’m just saying it’s underwhelming considering the social media team has hyped it up for over an hour.

Not sure about the Taylor journeyman comparison - he was probably the best striker in League One when we signed him, who had already played very well for Wimbledon for a number of years.

I like Bogle as a player and he will definitely make life hard for defenders, but this is not our 25 goal as season man.

We kinda did was a v good offer for a player who in his own words had his head turned and didnt want to be here anymore
would you rather have kept him in that mind frame and lack of effort ??

  • Bowyer still wants another five signings before next Friday’s closure of the domestic window.

“We have to bring three more loans in and a striker,” he said. “I’m looking to probably get another five.

“It’s so important that we get a striker through the door because we’re very, very short in that department.”

One in today, still time to get 4 more in. Imagine we still have another perm to come in before window closes.

Point taken, but Bonne wanted to leave, QPR made a decent offer as a higher division club, and there was a fair chunk of time left in the transfer window. Until the window shuts, hard to say what sort of pedigree we'll have

To everyone who is writing the guy off before he starts and moaning that he isn't a Bonne , that is correct . He is a different type of player - Bonne wont be able to bully defenders the way this guy and Chucks can.

The window isn't closed yet and we don't know exactly who else we are negotiating with or due to bring in.

Forget what he has or hasn't done before and get behind him for the whole season. It could well be that he is crucial part of the jigsaw that Bows and Gallen are putting together which gets us back in the championship.

So Bogle is shit because he didn't have a club once the season started but Maddison is clearly the best player in the league and didn't have a club, checks notes, until a week ago?

Right now you have put it like that makes perfect sense. Silly me.

What are you going on about mate? Unless you’re just smashing your face into the keyboard, please point me to where I said Bogle is shit? Or compared the length of unemployment between Maddison and Bogle?

As you want to be pedantic I didn’t say Maddison is the clearly the best player in the league, I said when he’s at his best he’s probably the best in League One - you literally can’t argue with that, his stats would say he’s definitely the best in the league.

My issue was with the amount of hype the social team did for the signing, but it’s a non-issue. It’s just odd we’d do that for Bogle when we didn’t for higher caliber players like Watson and Maddison.

Have a cup of tea and chill out.
