     American Murder: family next door.

    Wow
    Indeed.

I remembered reading about the case, but to see the real-time footage of the investigation was pretty chilling.
Just an awful and depressing programme to watch. Why even make it? Usually these things are made as there is a twist or misjustice. This is just awful.

Feels mean and voyeuristic doesn't it?

As you say it's gone from the likes of Serial and Making a Murderer where it's querying if justice has been done to simply "look how horrific this is!"
  • Just watching Castle Rock.

Im not a huge Stephen King fan but I appreciate the many nods to his characters etc. JJ Abrhams clearly stamped his own style on it which is both good and bad.

    Its decent.
Watched this on Starz a few month ago.
    Found it very good.
If you're watching on Starz, try Mr Mercedes next... this was another level
I’ve started Mr Mercedes and done 4 episodes today.

    I love it.

Best bit of TV I’ve watched this year.
    Enjoyed all 3 seasons 👍

There's a certain satisfaction to be gained from knowing that Chris Watts would have absolutely hated that coming out for everyone to see.
  • But late to the party with Homecoming but I really enjoyed it. Obviously has a Mr Robot type feel to it, but is basically just a mystery story. Loved the use of soundtracks from other films in series 1 - gave it a really unsettling feel. Also felt the main character was a really really good fit for the role. Suspect we'll see a lot of him in the next few years. Ditto the two female leads in the second series.

    Hope there's a season 3

     *Spoiler Alert*

I've watched and read many of these true crime stories. Seriously though, what was going through this fellas head at the time?

I've heard some pretty f****d up scenarios but this one trumps the lot by some distance.

The main difference between this and many other family annihilation cases was that he didn’t kill himself after. The bloke is clearly a cold blooded wrongen. Those pleas on the news with him slowly blinking made me shudder. Even his confession to his father seemed completely fake. He has the characteristics of a serial killer.
  • Just seen that The Haunting of Bly Manor is out on Netflix. That's my weekend viewing sorted, The Haunting of Hill House was superb

That does sound good. Thanks for the tip. Would be interested to hear your thoughts on Monday! 9 episodes puts me off though. Wonder if its a bit padded out

I've only ended up watching one over the weekend but thought it was great, properly spooky. Looking forward to the rest
  • @Carter i really enjoyed Power, though it’s one of those that stretches to the max the unlikely scenario.

Angela Valdes is an absolute weapon though.

I'm onto season 4 epside 7 now, I'm on board

Still don't think Ghost has any redeeming features beyond a lot of good luck. Its good fun

Completely agree about Angela, I have a weakness for Latino women and she is all woman

Few good characters been introduced and are being used now. 50 cent is irredeemable though, Tommy is my favourite along with the Lawyer Procter
  • Don't think the haunting of Bly Manor is anywhere near as good as its predecessor. There are a few slightly scary bits so far (I'm up to episode 5) but the whole set up in the first series was so much better and the atmosphere they created, where you constantly thought something terrifying was going to happen and didn't even notice a lot of the extra stuff going on in the background, was superb. This series has nowhere near enough atmosphere and suspense for me and it is so much more predictable.

The first series was spot on for me - going to take a huge swing in the last 5 episodes to get close. I am sure there are twists to come and I am enjoying it: we were just spoiled by how good the first series was.

Yeah she’s fit but the way she pronounced Jamie really grated on me.
  • I enjoyed Power. A bit far fetched but a good watch.

Tasha and her mate are both smoking hot and very womanly

  • One thing I will say after 6 months of Power, Narcos, Ozark etc....

I am sick of the word ‘product’

I started it and it’s not bad but hardly original. Old Manor House, American au pair, 2 weird kids etc. Feel like all these horror things are the same.

Excellent first episode. Unbelievable scenery in the opening sequence.
  • Having re-watched some old favourites during lockdown (Mad Men, The Wire), I'm forcing myself to start watching something new this week on Amazon Prime...

Torn between Black Sails and Mr Robot. Heard good things about both but wondered if anyone had seen them and would recommend (or not)?
