And so will Doncaster. I strongly fancy them to finish in top 6, maybe even in an automatic spotRedrobo said:

Got in the play-offs in 96 with Leaburn as top scorer on 9. Prospered in the Premier League pre-Bent without prolific scorers (JJ had one season when he got 14). Parky got us close to the automatic spots with Burton and Mooney up front.Southbank said:No proven goalscorer=no promotion
This division is dross. Peterborough, Sunderland, Ipswich, Pompey and Hull are our main rivals and none of them are going to power to the title like we did in 2012. We've got a solid squad, with some strength in depth for the first time in ages. I don't expect us to romp to the title, the salary cap has prevented anyone from spending the money required to do that. I do expect us to be there or thereabouts, and I think the top 6 sides will have lower points totals than previous years due the levelling effect of the salary cap causing more dropped points across the board against weaker sides.0 -
Im pretty much 85 % satisfied and 15% worried after the deadline - quite like the CL forum. Happy with the players coming in, but keeping Doughty was more important than any recruitment.
I agree we probably dont have a 20+ goal striker within our ranks today, but believe we have wingers and attacking midfielders to chip in enough.
The biggest worry for me is cover for the CB/RB positions. With Inniss` injury record and now with Osh and Pearce on the sideline. Leaving me to think, have we got money left on the cap to bring in a free agent?
Would think Luton and QPR are carrying a lot of the wages for Shinnie and Smyth. Pretty smart move making these loans, and not permanent signings. Hasn`t seen their contract situation been reported, but would think at least Shinnie might be in his last year and can easily be signed up permanent along the way.4 -

You won’t believe this but.....it was undisclosed. I’d guess at £750k + add ons - (£25.00 if takes 30 wickets in an Ashes series)Welly said:How much did Charlton get from Cardiff for our goalkeeper?1 -
Not sure on that, Bow said it’s going to take a while to get everyone up to speed.ShootersHillGuru said:The season starts tomorrow0 -
I reckon that Lincoln will fall away once injuries, suspensions and loss of form kicks in.5

Bogle was probably Taylor's replacement, big / strong and battlerCallumcafc said:I thought Bonne's replacement was Bogle or am I getting it confused here?
I would much rather have Bogle and Smyth than a disinterested Bonne.
Macca's success relies on him putting in 100%, chasing down lost causes and putting pressure on the back line. He had no interest in doing that in his last two weeks with us.
What we still need really for Bowyer's setup is a Grant / Leko type striker0 -
I've very pleased with the dealings, of course I wanted more but considering we as a club was staring down the barrel few weeks ago. It's all positive progress and long may it continue.
Onwards and upwards.0 -
The only reason that Philips won't play for us is that Bowyer refuses to pick him.Callumcafc said:
Or we have a Dillon Phillips situation on our hands with a depreciating asset that won't play for us.killerandflash said:
If we had told him he was staying until we got a replacement, and it didn't happen, he would have knuckled down and got on with it. That's how football worksCallumcafc said:I thought Bonne's replacement was Bogle or am I getting it confused here?

Granted but Phillips refused to sign a new deal. Bowyer did what he thought was best for the future of the team by gaining revenue.charltonbob said:

Why have a player in the squad who can just walk off after a year, bowyer wants a team of fighters not people along for the ride.4 -
Bloody hell, two weeks ago we were almost in administration, and now we are financially sound with 9 new players through the door, ESI gone and have a decent owner. All this done in unprecedented times!charltonbob said:

Not sure what kind of miracle you were expecting but I feel safe in saying that the vast majority are happy with the way things have turned out!49 -
Half our squad are out of contract in a year's time! Even amongst the goalkeepers, Amos's contract ran for the same time as Dillon's.EricBanterna said:

Difference being those players will be fighting for contracts either her or elsewhere. Phillips refused his new deal.killerandflash said:

On one of the greatest stages in Football, Philips made one of the biggest fuck ups of all time. If we had lost that final 1-0 he would have been hung out to dry.
Nowhere near as good as he or his agent thinks he is.0 -
I wish he had signed, great shot stopper. Disappointed with his attitude as I think he would have been the no1 in a Championship club quicker by staying with us.
He has made his bench and will have to sit on it.2 -

Very very disappointing window . I asked a simple question and all I got was slobbering over my girlfriend...
one last time
does a basic Valley Pass give me extended highlights of all Charlton games?
how soon after a game does Valley Pass have extended highlights available?1 -

Think we will see a Ronnie Schwartz turn up as a free agent !1

Unless he was released by his current club before the international transfer window closed then this isn't possible I'm afraidct_addick said:Think we will see a Ronnie Schwartz turn up as a free agent !3 -
How many goals per game did BWP score in the championship before he played for Plymouth and us? In LEAGUE 1? He didn't start all 21 of those games, as you know full well as you seem to spend half your time creaming over Wikipedia trying to find ways of slagging off a player I suspect you have seen play less than a hand full of times. If that.charltonbob said:
HaHa so you're happy to forget the championship where bogle scored few goals 8 in 50 games, you're happy to big him up because he scored 19 goals in league 2 3/4 years ago & don't mention his league 1 record of 5 in 21 games. I've only mentioned league games but he has never scored in the cups. He's a turkey & must dread Christmas every year. Surely we could have got a decent youngster from a premiership club who could get a few goals for usCafc43v3r said:
If you look at there best goal scoring Washington got better than 1 in 3 for Peterborough and Bogle better than 1 in 2 for Grimsby. If you forget they both didn't score in the championship that's 2 in 3, or better between them.LargeAddick said:
In my opinion the latter won’t happen. Just have to hope that the likes of Bogle and Washington can score more goals in a season than they have ever done before.golfaddick said:To me it looks like its Sorba OR Smyth for the wide/winger place. Was Cawley referring to Smyth just then or Sorba ? Can't see us signing both as we still NEED A STRIKER WHO CAN SCORE US THE GOALS WE NEED TO WIN GAMES.
If we were playing in the championship I would say I was "underwhelmed" we aren't. So what keep banging on about records in the championship?1 -
Bogels record in league 2 was better than Taylor's..............charltonbob said:

But twist that one as well.3 -
Tbh the only signing I’ve actually really heard of is Madison (and Gunter maybe). The others have the benefit of the doubt, in the meantime.ricky_otto said:
Where’s the fun it that?dickplumb said:I have got a novel idea. Shall we wait and see how the new players do for us?
I’m really underwhelmed with Bogle, Inniss and Smyth...That said they are Charlton players now so will certainly be willing them to do well.
We are also in league 1 and with a wage cap. Beggars can’t be choosers and all that.
I’m prepared to be underwhelmed or (over)whelmed, but I’ll hang on for a few months to see which it is.Btw it’s Madison, one ‘d’.[Edit: No it bloody isn’t!]0 -
Transfer reopens in about 10 weeks. No reason why we can’t poach someone scoring goals in the lower part of the league. Got huge confidence we will go up this season. Just hope we get to see in a stadium and not in front of a TV screen.3

Trouble is, a poacher in January is going to cost ££££££££££SouthWest_Addicks said:Transfer reopens in about 10 weeks. Transfer fees are always inflated in the January window.
