Think I'm gonna make a compilation of thread comments and tweets crucifying Smyth before he kicked a ball so people can see how idiotic they sound.

Tbf he's only played 45 minutes so he's got long to go in his Charlton career, but I've seen nothing but praise for him this morning. You love to see it!

Watson is embarrassing. I watched alot of forest last year with a forest mate and he was so bad then. He's continued this form for us.
I must admit I have watched all Watson's games so far and am wondering why all the fuss about him. Looked decidely average.

Considering we’ve got such a new team where you have new combinations and partnerships across the entire pitch, we’ve looked quite good. Really unlucky not to score a couple of times.

Aneke looks excellent, so strong and his close control is very good. Unlucky not to score.

Smyth has impressed, he’s really quick and direct, and a willing runner. We really lacked that so it’s great he bring that to us. I still can’t see him scoring many this season, but he adds something to us we haven’t had since Grant left.

I actually think Forster-Caskey has shown some nice touches, got in some good positions and was unlucky not to score from the free kick.

With more to come due to better communication and understanding, and others to add like Maddison, Williams, Bogle etc, it’s looking good.

Big second half and I think we could go on and score a couple of goals.

Didn't he play pretty much every game and was their Captain? He can't be that bad.

I know the player playing at the base of the diamond is never going to look spectacular as it's their job to shield the defence and get the ball moving.

At the moment though he just looks a little slow and off the pace. But that could be because his only real options to pass to in the middle are JFC and Shinnie. Pratley is never really an outlet.
  • Even I’m positive , we’re looking reasonable going forward ... defensively a bit ropey but early days with these new players but looking good
  • I thought we were the best team in the first half but did not really look like scoring , unfortunately we don’t appear t have a real goal scorer . This could be a major problem this year .

For me got to take off one of Watson, Pratley and JFC.

Get Levitt or Williams on. Someone else who can link up the midfield and our attackers who have looked very bright today.
Agree totally. Perfect time to bring Williams on and to see whether he can return to some type of form.
You mean our international goal scoring midfielder?

Yes but apart from that .... :-)

What are we thinking of Shinnie today?

    Looked pretty good to me.
  • Reasonable first half

Chuks looking very dangerous, Smyth has been lively. Not convinced by the formation with Pratley on the left of midfield, surprised we didn't play 3 at the back with those 11 players

Is part of the midfield problem that we've got 3 out of 4 players in their 30s?

Ha ha. His defensive play has been okay I feel. He's not moved the ball well, but not sure if that's because of his ability, the way we are set up, or other players not making themselves available.

I feel like Field is the best player we have had in that position in recent seasons.

On balance a good half, it's showing that up until one o'clock we were running training drills to try and work an understanding. Very impressed with Smyth who seems to be everywhere with bags of energy, but I think if we are going to win this we need to have put away a chance in the first half.

So far so good, bearing in mind this team have never played together before! Like Smyth and Aneke is just a bloody man mountain. Innis will be a a definite great addition once he gets back up to match speed and we have Madison to come in when fit, think Shinnie did ok as well! Early days but looks very hopeful once they get to know each other.

We have to do better than Pratters on the left side of that midfield. He moves the ball so slowly. Attacks break down when the ball reaches him.
  • We own the skies.

Just need to gain control of the grass and we've got it all sewn up.

It's a running joke for forest fans. He was a total donkey 2 yards behind the pace sything men down left right and centre but yet gets picked every week to captain the side. He's not going to quicken up with games!
  • I'd like to see Williams come on for one of our midfielders. Pratley - Watson - JFC is never gonna work

Last time at this level we had Taylor, Grant, Aribo, Cullen, Bielic, Bauer. Not sure we really have anyone of that calibre this season.

Least Gunters actually made some probing forward passes.

Said I wouldn't post during the game as I want to concentrate on what's going on out on the pitch from now on.

First half started like the last 3 games this season - had the better of the play for the first 15/20 but haven't capitalised & have Amos to thank for not going in 1-0 down.

Someone ffs get JFC off set pieces & hopefully when Maddison is fit he'll be taking them. Talking of Maddison, didn't Gallen say when we signed him that he hardly ever gets injured. So that's another one Charltonised then.

Been impressed with Chuks & Smyth and the defence has been sound too. JFC should be nowhere near the starting 11 & hopefully we'll see a bit more attacking threat in the 2nd half once a few subs come on.

Have Amos to thank for us not going in 1-0 down?

Apart from the fact that Wigan have Jones to thank after that for the same thing...
