Ah man, can’t believe I missed the @Sarrf_London meltdown back at the end of March, could have been some valuable peak lockdown entertainment to keep me going once I’d got through Tiger King.2

I know it’s akin to finding out about the Titanic, but finally watching Stranger Things, how did I miss this8

The theme tune itself is epic.
Finding out the other week that Lily Allen got married to David Harbour blew my mind at its randomness.1 -

The Wire and Breaking Bad are both slow starters but are both amazing. To get real depth you kinda need a slow start.
It hooked me in from the pilot episode.
Has no one made a shout for White Lines yet? It's not really a slow starter either but it does get better and better. The music and general feel for the time it's set in is great -similar to Stranger Things in that respect although that's the only similarity.
I'm not a fan of crime solving type things but White Lines has a whole lot more going for it than just the main plot.0 -

I watched all of white lines and loved the idea of it but was pretty disappointed.2 -

There’s hundreds of meltdowns on other threads, I can’t be arsed to trawl through all of them. I just want everyone to do exactly as I say, following some very specific and slightly unnecessary conditions. Are you thick or something?1 - Sponsored links:

I watched the first series of Stranger Things and that was enough for me.

It’s the aesthetic both visually and musically of Stranger Things that sets it apart, the look is fantastically on point, but the music choices are exceptional and make it work. Playing Elegia from New Order at the funeral was a masterpiece0

stranger things is simply nostalgia porn, accept that and its really enjoyable.2

My Mrs watches these series on Netflix and I either watch too, or when I fancy it, but this was one that I watched every episode of.
Also got Designated Survivor on the go. Started off okay, but is a bit repetitive.
Apart from the odd couple, Ozark being one, I generally find these Netflix originals are not very well made and the acting leaves a lot to be desired. Anyone else think the same?So many unbelievable things happening to the same people at the same time. Made more annoying by the fact it draws you in because you’re wondering who did this, who did that. Then all is revealed at the end and you realize the writer didn’t know what to do with it all and decided to make half the events irrelevant to the plot. Idiotic writing.0 -
My (now thankfully distant) memories of Stranger Things was a random killing of a restaurant owner by men in black official forces for no reason, a science teacher as clichéd as you could get. A rather predictable bunch of school kids reinforcing the notion that only misfits and nerds like science, and worst of all this totally rubbish concept of the 'upside down', which I took to be an unregulated licence to introduce anything when the story ideas evaporated.
'What shall we have next?'
'Dunno'
'OK. we'll have an intelligent spider, a speaking tree, and wet water that's dry, and if anybody asks, shrug and say it's the upside down innit'.
'Can we have living wallpaper too?'
'Yeah why not, it's the upside down innit. See you round eleven?'
'Sure'.
It was neither fish nor fowl, neither science fiction nor fantasy.
If series two or three or four resolved matters then fine. But if you're invited to believe in a fiction, there has to be something worth believing in.0 -
Anyone watched Super8?
Heard it had very Stranger Things vibes (a few years earlier).1 -
