Ched Evans sacked by Fleetwood

It was a very, very strange situation. After Evans' girlfriend's dad bankrolled his appeal, they got former partners of the alleged victim to appear and comment on her sexual history, after offering £50,000 for people to come forward. They essentially put a bounty on her. Evans' girlfriend also sent them begging messages. Two men came forward and the judge allowed her history to be scrutinised despite the fact defence lawyers have been banned from cross-examining alleged rape victims in court about their sexual history since 1999. The men gave similar stories to the Evans case, and apparently no-one thought that this was at all unusual and allowed it. Her identity was also deliberately given out on social media despite the fact that's illegal. She's had so many death threats she's had to change her identity at least 5 times. Basically, a rich bloke used all of his money and influence to create a situation where the woman's account was brought into question after all the facts had already been publicly shared, and the only new evidence that was offered was that this woman had had sex while drunk before. No word on if those blokes also exited via the fire escape mind. Despite this not actually disproving anything to do with the case at hand, the obvious financial inducement related to the new witnesses and the fact the judge's decision to allow this set back rape trials decades, his guilt wasn't proven. They basically muddied the water using cash and he was never anything close to proven innocent. Regardless of all that, I think everyone would agree he's a total piece of shit, and the fact he may or may not have got away with one or not doesn't change thatValleyGary said:ElfsborgAddick said:

Not something that should be keeping anybody awake, apart from perhaps the appalling scum bag himself.
Gives him more time to dwell on his absence of value.
He might even find a grain of humanity in that fetid carcass and take himself for a very long walk off Morecambe Bay at low tide with a strong offshore breeze.
At least there could be some positive outcome from his worthless existence when the cold blooded denizens of the deep get a feed.SoundAsa£ said:

Wasn’t he eventually proven not guilty after providing the court with new evidence? In fact I think he was paid quite a substantial sum in damages by his initial lawyers.
BTW that’s no me defending him or suggesting we sign him!

But, given all that.......would you sign him. ?Garrymanilow said:

When asked why she believes Ched, Natasha, the director of her father's jewellry business said:
"He couldn’t. I mean the only people who think Ched is a rapist are people who haven’t met him. He’s a big softie. Everyone who knows Ched can see why I’ve stood by him.
I know he can be an idiot, and he behaved appallingly, no doubt about that, but rape? No. He hasn’t got it in him."

Have any of our Welsh Internationals ever made any statements about Evans? You'd imagine Gunter and Matthews being similar ages know him pretty well.0
-
I would be very surprised if any of them went in record. Most agents would surely advise to keep heads down and mouths shut, it's not worthwhile getting dragged into the situation.SantaClaus said:Have any of our Welsh Internationals ever made any statements about Evans? Which is not to say they do not have opinions at all but I don't see it being sensible on their part to comment on legal matters about another player.3 -
Cheers, I wasn’t aware of any of that, and I’d imagine the majority of the public aren’t either.Garrymanilow said:

His girlfriend's old man paid a lot out when most fathers would have run a mile .Technically it makes him not guilty. Trials don't prove innocence, they prove guilt. A lawyer who is good at their job can create enough confusion and doubt for someone to get away with an act, and that's exactly what happened. No-one has ever disputed what happened in that room, it just came down to a technicality on whether or not she was too drunk to consent, and via pleading and offers of huge sums of money that doubt was introduced a long time later. Basically second time round he got a better lawyer. He's not innocent of anything.I can't even begin to get into the mindset of a man who puts tens of thousands of his own money into destroying the reputation of a 19 year old woman, all to defend a man who cheated on his daughter. The bloke is a mystery18 -
It really is bizarre. I'm quite sure that if you cheated on your girlfriend then her Dad would probably want to do you some harm, not spend thousands of pounds trying to help you out.

Has anymore been said officially about his "sacking"?
Fleetwood chairman or OS made a statement?
Great summary by @Garrymanilow BTW2 -
Sorry (not sorry) but Evans is not the kind of person I could cheer on if he was wearing our precious shirt. Absolute stain of a man.18

Going to Preston until the end of the season apparently2

The story I read was shooting the Landlady's son in the leg.
After reading Garry Manilow's story just like Joey Barton who is a nasty piece of work, Ched Evans deserves no sympathy, but the young woman does even if no crime was committed. A man may sleep around and he's Jack the lad and yet a woman is called a slut by some.
A terrible story from start to finish for so many reasons.

Some were even convicted of releasing her name whilst trashing her on social media.
His own 'defence' website (whilst not naming her) sailed at the least very close to the wind on victim blaming.
There were no charges as a result of this but it gives you an idea on the website:
