Virgin Hyperloop

  • Getting another runway at Heathrow was bad enough. Trying to get something like this passed and built will take a couple of hundred years.
only if it's done thru public procurement with a government involved
private enterprise will get it done, if it can wash its face
unlikely to make sense here in Blighty, we ain't got the space to get it into or out of conurbations - precisely why HS2 is a non-starter - and potential distances ain't long enough for the time saving to be valuable

    They ate the leather.
Sad but true, but even when the leather was intact and greased the efficiency was sadly lacking.
  • Not certain the percentage investment Branson has in this hyperloop. Some of the businesses which bear the Virgin name are merely 5% investment granted for the use of the brand name with no money departing from the Branson coffers. Others, like the airline,  he has put significant money into. However, with the borders closed he may well be in difficulty there.

The whole point of HS2 is that they are building a new tunnel into London capable of handling 16 trains per hour each carrying up to 1200 - 1500 people directly into Euston! This completely replaces the three existing "express" lines where trains have to compete with commuter and freight services. The lack of space is precisely why a very high capacity / density line such as HS2 is a no-brainer in this country!

has this just opened? or still to happen? Was in shanghai v early last year and the train ride from the airport to the city centre was an absolute cunt. Especially when you're extremely jetlagged! ... even if the journey only cost about 60p!

Akira and Ghost in The Shell are much better than this.  No storyline and even less action and monsters.

Just how ugly would those tubes be in real life, stretching across the countryside?  Roads and railways are bad enough, these would be awful.
