Lyle Taylor - August 2025 signed for Chelmsford City (p295)

Yann Kermorgant was an all round footballer. A workaholic with great commitment and a physically intimidating character for opponents.
They would always have to prepare for his presence and it would change the game.
He earned his money and wore his heart on his sleeve.
Chris Powell got the best out of him.
Crazy to think our title winning 11/12 season is now close to being 10 years ago.9 -
Coming on to the thread for what I assume was lot of laughs at him moving down the pecking order at Forest, only to see Taylor being compared to Yann
🤮5 -
Its probably been mentioned before all the mystifying Yann Kermogant and Lyle Taylor comparisons. Glen Murray is loaned to Nottingham Forest. It looks like it may be an achievement for Taylor to be on the bench. It wouldn't surprise me if Forest attempted to move Taylor on at the end of the season for a fee. They would at least recoup some of the wages. On Kermogant / Taylor comparison, whilst a good striker, Taylor contributing to one good promotion season. He was then injured and didn't fulfill his contract and contributed to Charlton being relegated. One or two goals and a point would have seen Charlton safe.Yann Kermogant is a total legend & top character. Yann was a fighter, a fine striker of the ball and scored so many great goals. Lyle Taylor is clearly not fit to clean Yann Kermogant's boots.15

He's not made it off the bench for 1 game after playing in 25 games on the spin.
I doubt he's worried right now.

Give him more time to count his money.3

The Lyle vs Yann comparison isn't unfair at all
Yann 32 goals in 96 games, with 12 in 39 in L1 and 20 in 57 at Championship level (including cups)
Lyle 36 goals in 67 games, with 25 in 45 in L1 and 11 in 22 at Championship level (including cups)
Of course goal stats aren't everything, but we shouldn't rewrite history either1 -

Anyone even mentioning yann and Taylor in the same sentence needs their head checked... That's not even remotely sentimental. Taylor was class but yann was the best we've had since bent. Imagine Yann and Darren Bent up top!11

That sentence is perfect from a literacy perspective, there is even a Dylan reference in there.

To me striker means goalscorer. Yann was a target man, who scored the odd goal. Taylor was an out and out striker. BWP was a striker but not in Taylor class.3 -
Noticed today that he was getting a little bit of pelters on the socials. So thought I'd look at the Forest forum to see what the general consensus was.
Sounds like they are crying out for a striker, and don't see Lyle as that person. Indeed a lot of comments were in similar vain to this:
'Taylor - Vintage Lyle performance. Came on, almost got into a full sprint, fell over trying to con a free kick and waved his hands around a bit. He's a better public speaker than a footballer.'
Interesting to see why it is he has dropped from our talisman to Forests bit part player. Has he regressed to the mean, did Bowyer build the team around him and know how to get the best out of him, has he got his big money move and does not care anymore?10 -

In all seriousness, we built a team around him and he was excellent for us . Some players need to be the main man to really thrive - like Parker with us and West Ham.1 -
Taylor was excellent for us and Bowyer did seem to know how to get the best out of him. It was a big loss to lose him but obviously money talks.

he’s behind Grabban and Murray and they play one up front , so he’s not getting much of a look in or chance to get any form, aaaah1
-
Got his money, doesn't care.4
-
I was so angry towards him a while back but strangely I don’t feel anything towards him now. He feels irrelevant.12

He has it now. No need to try anymore. Surprised Houghton has stuck with him this long. We saw him at his best.0 -
Just had a look at how his stats. 4 goals in 31 games. They seem to have given up on him now as 20 minutes from the bench is around what he’s playing these days.Always difficult to gauge an overall fans perspective on Twitter, but Forest fans after last night just can’t figure out why he’s changed. They said when he first got there he was hungry and always looking for the ball, now he spends most of time on the floor and has poor attitude.1
