The run chase is on >:)

160: Ashwin or Axar Patel take at least 5 wickets
  • Burns looks so uncomfortable here.
  • India probably got at least 80 more than we should've allowed in the first innings and at 106-6 probably at least 120 more than we should've allowed in the 2nd innings.

Not that it would've mattered as i don't think we'd have even got 282, but at least we'd have had a slim chance.

Kohli is at his best when scoring runs and getting the crowd excited. He has gone back to his default setting after his quiet demeanour in the first test.

England job was too give the new ball to Stone and Broad and stop Ashwin getting a ton by either getting him or the number 11 out.

Jack shit with saving this match but in any sport don't let the opposition take the piss by rubbing salt in your wounds.

What a magnificent bastard Ashwin is though, really

If he gets another bag in this innings then the Man Of The Match decision is one of the hardest in living memory. Either he or Rohit has put in one of the greatest performances to not win MOTM
  • England 246 all out my prediction
  • A bit of luck for Burns. He needs to capitalise and go on to make a match winning double century
  • If we can survive the new ball and the first hour of tomorrow (first hour of each day has proven most difficult to bat on and has produced the most wickets) only 1 or 2 down it should get easier to bat.

optimistic, I'd be surprised if we make it past around 180.
  • Seriously - what is wrong with playing the ball with the full face of the bat especially early on?

  • Rubbish shot really. Right back in his crease and playing across the line

At least Burns told him he was plum and we didn’t burn a review

    Lawrence then nearly repeats it

Fielders around the bat and a crumbling turning pitch?

Should be a wake up call for sibley, needs to work on playing against spin, a huge weakness in his game

Good attitude by England in 2nd innings by not being Rabbits in the headlights.

Will still be run over but at least attempt to get to the other side of the road.
  • Still think Jennings should have been in the squad this winter. His weakness against pace would have been irrelevant in this match

10% of the run chase completed, for a loss of 10% of our wickets

    Couldn't be more finely poised....

The turning pitch is the very reason you play it with the full face because it gives you the chance to hit the ball with a bigger bat surface - or to leave it. His bat face is pointed towards square leg and if he's not getting his pads outside the line of off stump then he will be plumb if he misses it. That is why a lot of batsmen take middle and off or even off stump guard to the off spinner these days.

Sibley played that shot because that is the way Sibley scores runs and with only 3 runs off 24 balls I suspect he felt that he needed to do something. He wasn't sweeping like Burns or using his feet like Lawrence so he was in a situation where the bowler was always going to be able to create pressure.

    that aged well

  • Shame because Burns was batting very well in the circumstance. But, once again, a batsman is trying to work a ball that is pitching on middle and off and turning square to leg.

    Leach 95 seconds incoming

  • Grow a pair and get out there

  • The main reason we don't play spin well is, of course, because we we don't play spin in the County Championship. Wickets are seamer friendly and the Darren Stevens of the world are King!

Bad news: monsoon season starts in June.
  • Lawrence please don't shake your head. One the Umpire doesn't need guidance and two let the Indians waste a review!
  • How the fxxx can you be that confident about an appeal and then debate whether you are going to review it or not? They were all appealing for the catch not the LBW as evidenced by Pant throwing the ball up!!!!
