for a moment then at 5 nil i thought that he might win all 8 frames and ITV 4 will have to put on an episode of Minder or the Sweeney tonight. which tbh i would of rather of had than what was on show from Ronnie. Still two good frames to get back into it a bit.
The start of Stephen Hendry's comeback. Live coverage on Eurosport 9am- 11am & 18.15 - 21.00
Hendry tonight ETA 7pm start, would love to see him win his first match but highly unlikely when he is up against a seasoned pro. Still will be great to see him back, hope he is looking in reasonable knick.
Speaking of old dogs, well comebacks. Jimmy White was 3-0 down to O'Connor, has just won 4-3, played some good stuff and looked pretty solid tbf, Great come back!
Personally i think it will be very tough to come back and win, however the fact he has left it this long makes me think he wont unless he is at a reasonable standard. I think he loses but hope i am wrong and hope its a close one, last years seniors (or whenever it was) he looked in good knick so i am hopeful he can do it just wouldn't back him.
Not doing a Hendry and coming back myself yet 🤣🤣 but seen a few comments about his match so thought I would quickly post my opinion on tonight
Hendry came out of retirement and received his invitational tour card at the start of the season, he said he would not enter a tournament until his game was at a level where he could compete with other players, he has waited 7/8 months and has been practicing all that time.
The fact he is now in this event shows he has confidence in his game.
He has been working non stop with Steve Feeney and Sight Right who helped Mark Williams come from almost falling of the tour to winning the World Championship.
Hendry said a few days ago he felt his game was better now than the last few years before he retired
IMO he will win tonight and possibly the next round depending who he gets(either Honghao or Hawkins)
Also worth baring in mind Selt is a good friend of his and said the other day he will be the most hated man in snooker if he wins so that may be in the back of his mind.
Selt hasnt had a great season a few 2nd rounds but nothing amazing

Welcome back buddy/ Boss! well not fully but nice to see your name pop up here..
I sort of agree with that, bar i think he loses, Selt although inconsistent probably isn't the easiest draw. I just hope its a good game and he has a chance, a bit of a shame there isn't an audience really as that would have been special.
Brilliant performance from Hendry, looked as if he had never been away from the table
Century in frame 2
And still managed to lose 4-1
No fault of his own tho as he barely put a foot wrong, at one point Selt was 6/6 on long pot success and during the 4th frame his pot success was 98% probably finished either 97% or 98% thats Trump levels of play, literally unplayable.
Hope it doesn't dishearten Hendry because he did look great in amongst the balls and there were a few cracking long pots himself.
Agree, the scoreline doesn't tell the picture really. Just Selt played his top game, when he does that he can compete with the best of them. I did say it felt like he could have got an easier draw.
Firstly was so happy he got a century, a decent one too! Shame no fans were there to witness it as that would have been such a moment, he played well, just one of the matches he didn't do alot wrong. Fingers crossed he will have another shot or try to qualify for the Worlds, he is the sort of person this will either drive him on or he will just leave it here imo, hopefully its the former. Respectable performance, also credit to Selt who had to be the party pooper but played so well.

Selt was very solid. Hendry looked, better than the last couple of seasons before he retired. I dont think he would have made a comeback unless he thought he could compete at this level. He did miss a couple of long reds and his safety wasnt good enough, one easy safety in particular was really poor. He will have to improve on that. Overall I would think he'd be pleased with how he played.
