Whatever your politics a very good and gracious lady who served her country has passed away sadly today. I always listened to her she was, to me, a very level headed and moderate politician. RIP

How sad. One of the original gang of 4. Admired her for standing up for her principles & starting a new party that were more aligned with her views.

The two party system that is in place needs challenging.
She was party to that ,it never worked out but at least she tried.

One of those rare things - a principled politician. The SDP was, however, a mistake and as good as ended her political career (prematurely).

A political heavyweight, who would make modern politicians look like detritus.

I’ve never forgotten the delight of one of my teachers when she lost her seat in 1979. Little did he know what was coming.0

Shirley Williams, as education secretary, was one of the first MP's I became aware of as a child in the 70's. Proper MP, proper person.

RIP Dame Shirley. She was first elected to the constituency I was born in less than three weeks after that very day.0

Very intelligent lady and a fine politician. RIP1

She had more class than all the current lot from all parties put together. Met her a couple of times and she was intelligent, articulate and with a genuine concern for the nation rather than her own career.5

Principled and ethical throughout her life. I cant say I agreed with her political viewpoints but you cant argue that she stood up for what she believed which is what politicians should do. RIP2
