The rumour (and it is only a social media rumour) is that Mourinho, on hearing the announcement of the Super League, refused to take training this morning. I've not had down as being particularly altruistic so, if it is true, then perhaps he wanted to engineer his own sacking now in the knowledge that, without Kane especially, when they lose the Carabao Cup Final, he wouldn't be able to say that he had brought Spurs a trophy after so many years without one.
And/or he is aware that Kane is off anyway at the end of the season and in the knowledge that he will be left with a very poor squad without him.
