A joke about there being five kick offs, i.e. starts and restarts, has been misunderstood and has somehow turned into there being five people.Baldybonce said:
Is 5 a typo ?bolloxbolder said:Unbelievable that 16 months later, with very few changes, that Forest team won Division 1, ie the Prem to you young uns.
As someone said there was only 5 of them. I still remember one of them in a large donkey jacket and moustache. As they were at the top of the terrace no one could get behind them. Pretty immovable really.
There were about 60/70 imo.Agree with SE9 though. Sounds shit.
I was refering to @bolloxbolders post. A lot more than 5 and they were in the middle behind the goal not at the back.bolloxbolder said:Unbelievable that 16 months later, with very few changes, that Forest team won Division 1, ie the Prem to you young uns.

Everytime they tried to get a song going there was an absolute roar from the Covered End. Why the Police kept them there i don't know.1 -
I remember your predictions that night:oohaahmortimer said:My first ever game aged 6.5 years don’t recall any of it , just looked it up it was a Friday night .
I reckon Forest must have had a decent following and so it began ….
Charlton win - 100 million per cent plus infinity
Robin Hood Forest win - zero nil nought per cent cos they are smelly poos
Drawer - boring boring boo boo2 -

I was at that game and, other than our unexpected victory, I do remember the police escorting quite a large number of individual fans around the track on the pitch before removing them during the match.0

I still don't understand the joke, please explain.TellyTubby said:

Poster A refers to lots of ‘kick offs’.
Poster B makes joke about there being 5, as in the players kicking off for two halves and three goals.Poster C misreads or misunderstands and it turns into there being 5 away fans.Posters D, E, F, G and H say there were a lot more than 5.2 -
I know bolloxbolder and I thought he was being serious, which is why I thought/think he's not joking.Uboat said:

Obviously poster B Mr One Lung made a joke about there being 5 kick offs.0 -
Yes I wasn't joking there were only 5 Forest in there. It was difficult for the Police to remove them out of an exit as they were surrounded by Charlton fans. I was literally 10 yards south of them the whole game. They were at the back of the left side covered end ie nearer the West Stand.Covered End said:

Brings back memories of supporting CAFC in the sixties and seventies, particularly away from home. Tactics were to get into the corner of the home end, so that the home support couldn't get behind us, and could only have a go from one side or from below. Meant that some games were fairly challenging,
The older I get, the more nostalgic I become about those times, particularly as some of those I went with are no longer with us.2 -

Chelsea did not use those tactics in '77.......Isawsummersplay said:Brings back memories of supporting CAFC in the sixties and seventies, particularly away from home. So it seems. Apologies to whoever I now owe them to. I wasn’t there, so I’ll let you sort out amongst yourselves whether there were 5 away fans in the covered end or 200.ElfsborgAddick said:

Poster C bolloxbolder did not misread or misunderstand Poster B.
He confirmed that in his opinion Forest had 5 fans in the covered end.0 -
My recollection was that a small number of Forest fans charged into the covered end through the gate in the railings and were then followed by about 50 others. The police penned them in the top right hand corner. They never took the covered end. Before the match they had gone through Charlton Village and down Fairfield Grove smashing windows and stamping on car roofs. My friends mum had her windows put through. After the match I got chased up Charlton Church Lane but the fat bastard chasing me ran out of puff when he got to the chippy opposite the Lib Club and collapsed in a heap.3

Yes, this is more like my recollection, having also entered and exited via Charlton village._MrDick said:My recollection was that a small number of Forest fans charged into the covered end through the gate in the railings and were then followed by about 50 others. So it seems the Forest Five had the biggest result ever in the taking of an end?3
