Not worried by Chuks' departure. Despite his goals, I never felt confident he was going to change the game when he came on a sub. In my mind he was always more likely to give away silly fouls/get booked/sent off and give away possession. Wish him all the best but looking forward to signing a striker who can play 90 minutes.0

Doubting Thomas! I won't believe it until I see it, or hear it.0

Dont panic Mr Mannering !
Lots of time left yet to get players in and I'm still of the opinion that the management will bring the right players in. Not sure where the information is coming from but if we get a few of the players being mentioned it will be a great season0 -

I am calm, but I do think it’s going to be a harder season than many would’ve anticipated going into this summer and this is not a reaction from the news today.
Sandgaard would do well to appoint a CEO who runs things on the ground whilst he’s in the US. I get it’s his way and all those reasons, but we need that figurehead in the UK.
Would be interested in understanding how it might change things
I’ve spoken to a few people and it’s a general view that we might be better off right now having someone in that role.
It’s not often club’s are run without a CEO, especially one where we haven’t really had one since Meire left, and even then wasn’t really a very good one at all.As the sole owner TS is our SEO. He may not be in the same Country but he clearly undertaking exactly the role one would expect of a CEO, and many companies with a single owner run this way. The only real difference is they have no one to report to.Pleading to have a decision maker on the ground would suggest to me that the trust is not there yet, or that individuals haven’t quite grasped that they can make those decisions, or feel uncomfortable making them. This maybe understandable given the money you are committing the owner to paying, but it is the pay grade!
Not being ‘on the ground’ can be more challenging, but it can and does work IF individuals are empowered to make decisions. That responsibility will only be devolved if the individual is considered to be able to make sound decisions and it can be argued that this means quicker and better decisions being made by those with intimate knowledge of what is required. At the moment we have SG, Roddy and Adkins responsible for player recruitment. If they can’t get it right I don’t see adding a fourth adds value or speeds things up. What do you see a CEO adding to the process that the others lack?
I really don’t see the 7hr time difference being an issue. A high calibre player that we are after will have been discussed. There is a budget. He has a phone. He would be happy to take that call.
TS has delegated the running of his company in the USA to trusted managers, but does keep an active interest in what is going on and sets the strategic direction. I would suggest that this is what he wants to replicate.1 -

And 2 of the players out of the 12 left are only supposed to be here as back up (Watson & Pearce).
So, its not only replacing them but replacing them with better players.
I think TS might have bitten off more than he can chew.Clearly he has issues, but teams in L1 couldn’t cope with him and realistically we are not going to replace those goals or that impact easily or cheaply.I really like Stockley, too, mind. If we’d had him earlier along with Washington - instead of the hopeless Bogle - we’d have gone up.0 -
I want to stay at my job, but if someone came along and told me I could do less than I currently do AND have twice the money... Well... See ya!0

in an ideal world with no budget constraints wee'd have kept chucks as a supersub - in reality, putting those extra resources into getting a main man up top who can play week in week our is far more important7

Will be interesting to see what we do striker wise , Stockley has obviously come in to start and hasn't come cheap for this level. Wonder if we go and find him a strike partner or if the fourth striker will be a younger player on loan?3
-
Lots of work to be done on the squad but it just takes a few signings for things to be looking up. A keeper, a winger and a midfielder and I think everyone will calm down. Then we’ll complete our squad via loans and deadline day signings. I remember we did some great business on deadline day in our Championship season that took us from troublingly underprepared to pretty well stocked (until all the injuries)1

Either way we need about 10 signings across the team, including wingers and strikers.3 -

Football has its pyramid and if a Prem club wants a Championship player they get him and if a Championship club wants a League 1 player they get him - I think given Birmingham’s interest it’s impossible to retain Aneke so I’m not sure what all the teeth grinding is about
He’s definitely a decent player at League 1 level but he’s not irreplaceable- we can only judge the recruitment when it’s finished although admittedly we are all getting a bit twitchy - me included !

10 signings is what I've had in my head all window as about what we need , maybe more.1 -

We didn't look like we had an effective attacking force until he got the appropriate support.
If we revert to Stockley alone then we are done for.2 -

As for the squad I am content to wait and see what happens. I can still think it’s a shame a particular player has gone without your permission, thanks.3 -

Roddy has been appointed as Thomas's man on the ground also the finest solicitor in sport has been appointed to the board. You build a good club from the foundations which has happened my permission has not been asked for nor would I give it I learnt that a long time ago I have known you from a long time ago when we went around delivering leaflets to get a new leader elected on Greenwich Council so I am very converse how you and Peter work.I like you are in titled to our opion where we differ you get payed for it I do not I post comments come from my long connections with a club that I have supported all my life and passed on to fellow supporters in good faith.3

Laddick01 said:This makes you realise how poor this division was last season. This year clubs will throw money around.
From what we’ve seen so far I think top 6 will be really competitive. The league was awful, and our players, even our so called better ones, fitted right in.
I’m not too fussed about Aneke and Amos leaving, and I wanted Pearce and Watson to go with them, along with JFC and Matthews. If Gunter’s contract hadn’t have been 2 years, I would’ve added him to that list.I think we’ll come good by the end of the window. Aneke could’ve quite easily broken down at any point during the season had we kept him on. Amos is okay, but if you rate him and think he’s good enough, I’d be quite confident we can get someone of equal ability in by the time the season starts. As it stands there’s a lot of work to do. In my opinion we’re going to need
GK, RB, LB, CBx2, 4 midfielders, probably 5 if we want promotion, and possibly a forward now Aneke has gone (not sure whether or not Adkins thinks Stockley, Washington and Schwarz can do the job). That’s 10 or 11 players. You would imagine we’re going to take up the option of 5 loan players given we need that many.Let’s hope we can get 5 others that are free agents or 3 free agents and a couple at a fee4 -
The transfer window should come alive next week.0

rumour (100th hand ) has it this so called mystery sponsor is no longer in the game , i wonder if swisdoms mob are back in the running to sponsor the shirt again0 -
When did this “invest many millions” ever get said? I think people have heard what Mumford said and twisted it and ran with it.
A ground-breaking deal for the club between 3-5 years is what I believe was mentioned. Doesn’t say millions are going to be pumped in. I think you have to think outside the box. What are these sponsors going to get involved in? I have no idea, and it’s the club’s prerogative to announce it in due time, but I personally think we are leading ourselves up the garden path of disappointment if we start thinking millions and millions are going to be pumped in to the club.21
