Something seems amiss here.
I have just read the Sunderland fans site. The vast majority posting are over the moon that Charlton are prepared to take George off their hands.
The general opinion is that he is shite.
Lets hope that Nigel Adkins has seen something in him, that George has never shown at Sunderland.

I've seen it said Sunderland used him as box-to-box, where as AFCW and Walsall used him in his natural CDM position. If you play somebody out of position they usually are shite.Billericaydickie said:Something seems amiss here.

They are now saying that we are in pole position to sign Paul Mullin.0

Football Insider again14 -
Sunderland fans think all of their players are rubbish! The only person they give credit to is McGeady!3
-
Sunderland fans are some of the most clueless fans in the country4

Only last season in L2, before that he was a Charlton style non-goalscoring striker (I assume he didn’t play in a other position!).se9addick said:

Cawley said we weren’t after Mullin weeks ago so interesting to see him being linked again.3 -
I thought NA’s team selections to suit his preferred formations and style was sound at the end of last season. If he is seeing qualities in players for specific positions and playing styles that he likes, that’s good enough for me. I don’t care what other fans think one way or the other. It is about what we are building and getting the right mix together.1

Sunderland fans thought Matthews was useless as well who in my opinion was our best player in the championship season.
Like the post above, Charlie Wyke got pelters as well.
Don't mind their fans but if a Sunderland fan calls a player shite.. I get excited to see them as they usually turn out decent.5 -

If Mullin joins you just know he’s scoring 4 goals all season12
-
Also, Dobson was very highly rated at West Ham didn't work out for him there but I don't mind signings like this. It could be what we need in breaking up play and the dirty side of the game.1

Mullins is lazy journalism I think. 2+2=52

Sunderland fans would slag off Ronaldo or Messi if they had them just remember there Northern there's not much they do like2

Would be surprised if there's anything in the Mullin rumours , doesn't exactly fit how I'd expect us to play and strikes me as a bit of a one season wonder.2

Alf Ramsey told Jack Charlton to win the ball and give it to someone who can play football. Just saying.2
-
The big difference with Ajose is that he was signed as our main striker. Would expect Mullins to be competing with Washington and Schwartz for that second forward role when we play two up front or coming off the bench when we need a goal.2
-
Interesting if we do sign Mullin. We'll have a penalty taker finally.
I wonder how he fits in the team if he does sign? I thought Nigel liked a 42311 -
Wonder if Mullins replaces Ronnie?2

Is Mullin the new Mullins?13

Paul mullin reminds me of Paul Benson for some reason.3
-
We are a hard bunch to please sometimes a guy who smashed it last season broke records for league 2 helped get his team promoted and should be in on a free whats not to like28
-
This talk of his time at Sunderland may not be as good a guide as what he achieved at Walsall and Wimbledon
How many Bournemouth fans would have welcomed Simon Francis based on our views?19 -
I'm not sure Mullin would be an Ajose situation. Ajose was our marquee signing and the main man to get us goals. Stockley will be our main man up top this season. I'd see this more as an Aneke replacement, or Schwarz maybe, if he's off.1

Thanks. Interesting.Henry Irving said:
It's a hang over from a time when all players had one year contracts that were renewable by the clubs only and over which they had no control.Fortune 82nd Minute said:
Bonkers. I'd love to have a contract and then carry on getting paid for another month after it has finished.Covered End said:
Yes.fenlandaddick said:Do those players out of contract at end of June get paid in July?
Footballers really aren't in the real world.
It is effectively a months notice money.
Whether that is right or wrong is debatable but it means players released who don't get new clubs at least have some sort of cushion and not all of them are on £Ms or even £Ks a week.
But time to reform the system now in 2021. There are a lot of people not on huge money who don't have this perk and no reason why footballers should still enjoy it.0
