    Probably won't register much interest here but Feyenoord have sold their best player, top scorer and captain Steven Berghuis to arch rivals Ajax.

    Fair to say it's a transfer that won't go down well in Rotterdam and i'd imagine it won't be a comfortable day for him when Ajax play at Feyenoord next season.

    In Dutch terms it's the same as Figo going to Real from Barca, or if Liverpool sold their best player to Man United.

    It's not unaffordable because even on his previous salary he produced more income than his salary.

    It will be a problem eventually though because it's unlikely he'll be playing for them for the last 2 years of that contract. So they'll be stuck paying him 400k+ a week when he'll be playing somewhere like the MLS or back in Argentina.

    All the talk is that he's agreed a reduced salary to stay but he hasn't really. Instead of signing a 2 year deal on his current wage, they're just spreading it over 5 years. The guy knows his worth and he's not signing for them on 400k a week when he could get 1m at PSG. Messi obviously loves Barcelona but let's not kid ourselves he's signing for them for less than half his salary to do them a favour.

    I'm not saying you wrong but you also have to ask what difference does it make to him if he is earning £1m or £400k a week ? Either figure isnt going to change the test of his life is it

    Yes the contract is now a problem, it's kicking the can.  His salary is not the problem.  Which is what I originally said.

    I got get why they want Trippier, not that I don't think he is good, but right back is far from their biggest problem.
