Charlton v Wimbledon ((EFL Cup) - Post Match Thread

Could only listen but that was worryingly poor. It looked a stronger Charlton line-up than I expected. They made 8 (eight) changes from Saturday and were untroubled. One effort on target in two full games. Clayden injured and Dobson and Stockley booked. Stopped going to Cup games a few years ago because of games like this. Adkins is going to have to give a balanced presser tonight. If he thinks we again carried a "goal threat," I would be seriously worried that he's an apologist for a lack of investment strategy.3

Were things that bad that Roddy actually asked one of his nephews to come along for a kick about??5

The issue is it’s not the youth, these are the players who will step up when the ‘First team’ players get injured.NorthStandUltra said:Let the post-mortem begin!
It’s the League Cup, Adkins stuck the youth out other than a couple of first teamers, we’ve got bigger battles ahead - we do need more players & Adkins/Gallen/Sandgaard are aware of this so let’s get things into perspective before we start losing our minds
Adkins/ Gallen/ Sandgaard must have been aware of this since the end of last season……2 -
So through to the next round on a technicality by the looks of it!
Or maybe we should just keep quiet and save ourselves further embarrassment in this competition?0 -
Thought the rule was 3 in this competition this season?ricky_otto said:
They did. And were the only team to do so tonight……Callumcafc said:0 -
We will NOT get promoted with this squadNorthern_Monkey said:Busy season, small squad. Best out of this competition if we have promotion ambitions. A little worrying from the reaction so far and lack of activity on transfers.2 -
We'll all laugh about this when Wimbledon go on to piss the league and win the Carabao cup, won't feel as bad then7

You won't be disappointed then.CAFCsayer said:I'd genuinely rather we lost these games... waste of time and our squad is thin enough as is0 -
It is. Wimbledon obviously don’t think it applies to them.Cardinal Sin said:

Is anyone worried about our squad still classed as bedwetters or are we allowed genuine concern yet?10

I’m not sure the above story is adding up. Osew was the second bloke to go off, not the fourth. I would’ve thought that makes a difference..0

All about the Papa John's trophy anyway0

Adkins comments, here we go... he starts with the standard reaction to our annual League Cup 1st round defeat.

Ha ha ha. That really takes the biscuit.Scoham said:Adkins comments, here we go...1 -
You don't get a bonus concussion sub unless you've used all three.
At least that's how I understood the rule.0 -

Ha! One of their fans has asked how comes and met with the sound of silence....
They've dropped a bollock. acted perfectly in line with the laws.0 -
Too much reliance on Stockley - he will end up getting injured.
No strength on the left side, which is a joke given we have had months to look at the balance of the team. Morgan and Watson are not good enough and new signings like Dobson, Clare etc are not good enough either.
TS is not ambitious enough, based on what he has done so far.10 -

Ronnie definitely seems to be being frozen out2

I think Dobson is a good signing but Clare has to be a squad player. All he offers is energy.3

I thought you are allowed an extra sub if a player has to go off with a head injury but the other team also gets an additional sub so both teams would be able to make 4 subs (up to 5 with 2 concussions).0 -
Yeah we've just signed someone... Josh Davinson

As things stand we are three serious injuries away from a relegation battle but three decent signings away from having a shot at top 6. It will be an interesting couple of weeks.6

Because its not true. Why try to make stuff up when the fans can see its BS. Only Elewere showed any promise, the rest were completely out of their depth.Dazzler21 said:13
