    He only cancelled his tour 2 weeks ago, so it must have been a rapid deterioration in his health

    cant imagine anyone else playing Boycie (one of the great things about OFAH is that so many of the characters were cast perfectly)

    My son was telling me last week how popular John Challis was in *Serbia  and they had made him an honourary citizen and John said he was planning to go back out there next year.

    Boycie was a brilliant character and was a great foil for Del boy. 

    Didn't realize he had Cancer and after hearing about the Legend that was Jimmy Greaves, this morning more sad news.

    Very sad. Always feels like a bit of a punch in the gut whenever news comes out of someone from OFAH passing away. An absolute elite cast of actors.

    RIP Boycie. Enjoy a cognac up there.

    Turning into a sad day this one. 

    Might just be my perception but what I liked about him, sometimes actors do well out of a series or character that makes them, they then think they’re above it, turn their nose up about it etc

    Never got that from him, the opposite in fact. Seemed to positively love Boycie, his double act with Marlene and played up to it all the time. can imagine the times he ‘played’ Boycie for a photo or phone video with fans went well into the thousands. 

    How they ever got through filming the seance without fits of giggles I will never know

    Always sticks in my mind the scene when Rodney comes in to buy the Roller and Boyceys famous laugh stops in its tracks when Rodders shows him the Sotheby’s invoice.

    Then when they get back to the nags head Boycey softens and gives genuine smiles to Del and Rodney.

    Such a great characters and actor. Rest in peace John Challis.

    What a brilliant character Boycie was to have played and he was so good as him. Everyone was so perfectly cast in OFAH. RIP
