Boldon Villa , the club that gave us Sam Bartram and Jack Shreeve , have suffered some serious ground damage as a result of storm Arwen. Clubs at this level rely on the hard work of a few volunteers , so this damage has been a big blow to them. They recently won promotion and as a result had to make ground improvements to be able to make the step up. The museum are going to make a donation towards the cost of repairs. If anyone would like to contribute we will forward donations onto Boldon. Donations can be made via our Paypal account linked to this email address cafchistorian@gmail.com , please add note ' Boldon CA FC '. Payment can also be made via our bank account , leave a message on this thread and we will forward you payment details.

Wouldn't their insurance cover this sort of thing?3

Apparently they don't have insurance0

I would've thought that a sports club admitting spectators would need all sorts of insurance.9 -
They will, most likely, have some insurance but it wouldn’t appear to cover damage caused by wind0

I live near Gillingham and went past their ground this morning. I tell you the devastation, damage and carnage was almost too much to handle.
It was a little windy last night but only because I ordered in a curry.0 -
had to look this club up. what a poor Charlton fan i am for not knowing of them.
anyway, first thing that popped up on google is them winning the Sam Bartram cup. Not sure when this competition took place but Sams daughter went to present the trophy.
Shame about that Joma kit but still a good initiative...

Well done the Museum for responding in such a practical way. I've made a donation.

Regarding insurance it's not covered as classed as act of god !0
-
They would do well to spend any money raised on getting a more suitable insurance!

We sent a message to Boldon today to tell them we had raised £700 towards ground repairs. We received this response from the manager -
' Oh wow , that's absolutely amazing... We can't thank you enough for your generosity. It really means a lot '18 -
It's not too late to add to the total if anybody wants to help them out.0
-
We had a couple more donations last night , total now £775 which goes a long way towards the £1,000 for materials required. This was before the vandals struck though.0

Just an update on our friends up at Boldon. The ground repairs have been completed and they are very grateful for the money we were able to send them ( £775 ).
If you want entertainment Boldon is the place to go. They stand in 5th position , with a chance of a play off spot.
