Combination of insomnia and COVID meant I was awake at half 5. Been an enjoyable hour to watch.2

We at the bit of the story where Root and Malan get a few and give us hope. I’ve just woken up, so looking forward to seeing one of them get out first over after lunch ha ha.0

I wish England would play Pope at five and Stokes at six.
Now Stokes is back to bowling again it just seems to make sence3 -
157-4.
Malan gone for 80 to Starc.0 -
Leave. The. Fucking. Ball.1
-
Ffs all out 280 it is … if we get lucky0
-
What an awful shot

Root punches his bat after playing at one he didn’t need to.
Malan swings his bat in anger after swinging at one he didn’t need to.
Bowlers bowling no balls all over the shop.
Discipline. We don’t have it in our batting, our bowling or our fielding.5 -
Sadly Callum you are spot on.0

Yawn.0

164-5.
Pope out for 5 after running down the track at the spinner.0 -

All happened because Root and Malan couldn’t resist getting bat on ball. Australia are ruthless when there’s an opening.0
-
I think that drinks break is my cue to get some sleep before the Plymouth game kicks off at 9am.
Hopefully I wake up to a big Stokes/Buttler partnership getting us out of relative trouble and not us following on at 20-3.0 -
It's all over. Whitewash coming. Can still shuffle the deckchairs for the Third Test but we know what's coming.0
-
Piss poor from England since I got up. Just brainless batting

It’s actually quite insulting now to not play Foakes, when all the others who have played in his position have consistently failed in test cricket.
2 -
Jos Buttler been Australia’s best player2
-
Nice little stand by Stokes & Woakes before tea. Time to get Foakes, Mokes & Pokes into the side......1
-
That shot by Buttler should register with someone in the upper echelons of the selection board that he is not qualified to play the longer version of the game.
But you can say that about quite a few.
As a nation we are currently incapable of producing players that can play multiple disciplines, and there are so many now in the modern game you can understand why.
But then you look at the Aussies and realise it can be done.
Like so often before, we have to try and look at their blue print and copy it. That's why we are always 4 or 5 years behind the curve.1 -
We will lose heavily again due to failing with the bat and our answer will be to change the bowling line up.Malay and Roots dismissals were particularly shit in that they were well set. Why were they playing those balls?0

I imagine if Burns, Hameed or Crawley came in at number 6, they'd score more runs
Indeed an average of 31.37 is barely any better than Joe Denly's 29.53 when he was dropped, and Denly at least was able to protect Root and Stokes a bit by hanging around to soften the ball
Another self inflicted failure.
Burns and Hameed at least had the excuse of the lights AND tiredness after 2 days in the field, whereas Pope came to the crease at a lovely time to bat2
