this... I would not sell him. The kid clearly has a lot of tallent, just isnt showing it at the moment. If we change formation and play 4-2-3-1, he would be one of my first picks for out wide. Give him a run in the team in his proper position and i think it would be a different story

We're not going to change the way we play or formation just so Charlie Kirk can play.13

golfaddick said:Kirk was a panic buy & one to appease the frustrated fans. He wasn't going to work in Adkins formation as he likes an overlaping fullback & certainly not in Jacksons where he is asked to do both jobs !!
He will probably come good somewhere as his Crewe form shows he's a decent player at this level. If we had bought him in June & given him a full pre-season to gel with his team mates then it might have worked out. But it seems that fans of many many years standing know jack shit & we should trust a black box, a director of football who's now moved sideways & the owners son.

Please back that up because you've been corrected on it before11 -
Watch him leave Charlton and come back to spank us on every occasion.
can’t TS let him leave for nothing and then buy him 6 months later for a million4 -

A move back up that way could be exactly what he needs to get his mojo back. Either he does well and his value shoots up ahead of the summer, or he doesn't get much game time and we're back to square one on what to do. What I definitely wouldn't be agreeing to is a six figure fee loss in 4 months.
As well as Ethan Robson who I mention above the (former Doncaster) left back Reece James has not played regularly for the Tangerines.0 -

He's a very good player and I don't see that, when he has been on the pitch, he's done anything to deserve the rubbishing he's getting on here.4 -
Post Match Views: Charlton 0 v 2 Blackpool, League One September 2024
goals scored Kirk 47, 81
GolfAddick “another abject display which sums our abject ownership under TS and yet another wasted summer of recruitment as we have to come to terms with never getting out of this league. I warned you all when Kirk left it would come back to haunt us and mark my words, it’s happened! Why on earth did we let him go and bring (insert name here)”41 - Sponsored links:

I'm surprised we went after Kirk (rather than DJ it seems) when we had Millar as that's surely where Kirk would have played, albeit in a slightly different way.0 -
When you dudes gave Charlie Kirk 1, 2, or 3 on the players scores I thought Charlie played in the number 10 position or the attacking midfield position; am I wrong as didn't watch the game ?
Can't remember which game but he definitely got the lowest scores I had ever seen for a Cafc player.0 -
Kirk nailed on to score double figures in the championship if we sell, the charlton way.2

I'd rather he just tried Clare there or changed the formation since both right and left wing backs are integral to it and we have no one in the squad capable of playing the role he wants well. Need a Maatsen type player on both sides ideally and I'd say the left is in more need of cover.
Utterly pointless bringing in a loan player for less than 20 games. Season's over & we should be looking towards next season instead of giving game time to a Premiership team's player who wont be here next season.
He's just a Wum.
over ….
Explains everything.

He'll no doubt go on to be successful elsewhere, perhaps Charlton and London just isn't a good fit for him.0 -
Kirk may have been successful at Crewe but he is so far off what we need right now. No pace, can’t beat his man and has no left foot. Why on earth would we want a left winger that has those attributes ? Shift him on , anything over 400k back from his fee and we are laughing3

We can buy him back in 6 months for 900k1 -

Weren't Blackpool rumoured to be interested in the summer? Perhaps they've been tracking him for a while.0
-
Shame it’s not happened for Kirk. If he is to join Blackpool then it’s sensible for all concerned. Just hope we don’t lose too much money on him though.6

I said it before and got laughed at but Jackson has gone from potentially not getting the job twice to being the most powerful manager in a decade. Good luck to him, its the way it should be.1 -

From what I recall we made a bid in the morning for Kirk , but then some agent shenanigans blocked that , then had Josh Morris ready to sign but then got DJ last minute and didn't sign Morris1 -

Unfortunately the game is played on grass.
One thing you can say is that he has been consistent
ly shit3 -
Some transfers just don't work out. Sometimes they look good on paper but are still failures. You're signing human beings so there is always risk involved, now matter how good your scouting is, how good your manager is, and how much budget you have.
Man Utd are one of the richest clubs in the world. Ferguson was probably the best manager Britain has ever produced. They still signed some absolute duds and for good money. Some of them have still done well elsewhere. Zaha, much as we all loath him, is a prefect example of that.
Just because not every signing turns out to be a success doesn't mean that a scouting and recruitment team isn't doing its job or doing it well.
Even under Curbs, probably less than 20% of signings turned out to be really good ones. Lots were decent, but a fair few weren't that great either, and a good few were crap. It's the reality of it. All the belly aching, whining and finger pointing on here every time something doesn't go completely our way is getting so tiresome.

An unintended consequence of the squad rules is that clubs can't afford to be patient with signings if they've maxed out their squads.
Whereas previously we may have just let Kirk settle in and accept that he wouldn't play much this season, with the squad number rules in place doing that will take up a squad place which the manager might want for somebody else.2 -
If Charlie Kirk leaves for Blackpool, he goes with my best wishes. It can’t have been easy for a young lad to up sticks and expect to settle straight away especially after his dad had just died.51

There was some talk of Marquis coming to us on a short loan from Pompey…..he has gone to Lincoln.0
