MacG: 6 - a horrible fumble in the first half but one very good save in the second. Caught a few corners for once
Matthews: 4.5 - at fault for the first goal and a very shaky start. In mitigation, it was his first game for 3 months but he was, like most of the team, unimpressive. His time at the club is surely drawing to a close
Pearce: 5 - part of a very disjointed defence but by no means the worst of them
Famewo: 4.5 - too much hoof ball
Leko: 5 - an excellent run and cross for the second goal but went down too many blind alleys. Suffered from an abject lack of support when attacking their left flank but I'm afraid that he lacks a football brain
Gilbey: 6 - a bit erratic but at least had a bit of energy in the middle
Watson: 4.5 - some neat and tidy moments in the early stages but he is an absolute liability when we're out of possession. He simply cannot cover the ground. We gave Hartlepool acres of space in the final third as the game wore on and Watson was a big factor in that
Morgan: 5 - failed to build on Saturday's second half performance in a highly dysfunctional midfield
Purrington: 4 - one good cross but otherwise poor
Burstow: 5.5 - a nice goal but suffered from a lack of service
Washington: 5 - runs around a lot but the game highlighted his limitations as a footballer
BT: 5 - one good cross but hardly had a chance to get in the game
Aneke: 4 - not the impact we were looking for. What on earth was he thinking of with that bonkers handball, especially with Pearce just behind him !
Referee: 7 - didn't notice him much, which is always a good sign
Opposition: 7 - they outplayed and outfought us and thoroughly deserved to go through. They looked suspect at the back but we were rarely able to move the ball constructively into the final third to expose any fragility.
