Was at his debut at Maine Rd where he let in a soft goal that gave City a 2 1 win. Went on from that to be one of my favourite ever players (who could forget his performance at Old Trafford when we drew 0 0). He’s a top top bloke too.
  • Very well deserved. Done a lot of entertaining in the hospitality at The Valley and Bob has always looked after us, making my guests feel very much at home. You get a tour of The Valley when you sponsor a game and when I have done this Bob has always been the guide, very funny guy.

And of course not forgetting his playing days, great keeper.

The second (and, I think, one of only three) Charlton players to have a European Cup/Champions League Finalists' medal.  (Unless anyone knows better).

Best display I have ever seen by a Charlton goalie. Unbeatable that day!!
  • Fine gentleman, great goalkeeper and an exceptional servant for this great club. Congrats Bob

Thanks for posting. What a great guy Bob is.

The first time I saw a young Bob Bolder play was, oddly enough, for Sheffield Wednesday at Oxford, his first league club after he joined them from Dover. According to my Wednesday supporting mate, Bob wasn't too popular with their supporters at first because he was replacing local boy, Chris Turner. However, Jack Charlton knew a good goalie when he saw one and after excelling at Hillsborough, Bob eventually got a big move to Liverpool where, to the surprise of many, he failed to displace Bruce Grobbelaar as number 1. After things didn't work out at Sunderland, The Len swooped and got Bob for £20,000 - what a signing and what a great goalkeeper he was for this club.

Many years of stellar work for the Community Trust have followed and we could not wish for a better ambassador for our club.
  • You couldn't wish to meet a nicer fella , sponsored a few games and he's a diamond always positive and with a smile on his face even when I'm saying we're shit and going down ... top top man
They say don't meet your heroes , well bollox to that where this legend is concerned ...
One of the St Andrews gods, when we somehow beat the leeds scum in extra time

Mate of mine occasionally gets us tickets for the vista lounge through his work and Bob's always about at some stage before the game and happy to chat. He also.does.the man of the match presentation after the game.

Highlight has to be my boy binning off Nabby to get a picture with Bob instead :)

Probably the player I've seen play most for Charlton. Our "full time" Charlton careers overlap nicely. I started going home and away in 1986 and finished in 1993 when education took me away. I saw his debut at Maine Road (shocker) and his performance at Old Trafford (unbelievable).

    Very good!

The three I was thinking of were Simonsen, Bolder and Blomquist. Thank you for adding Traore and Carson to that list.

I think Costa and Gomez are excluded because they only reached the Final after their Charlton careers.

    I think...
