    I like partnerships like this.

Local connections, aligned values, not some anonymous offshore betting co.

No idea as to the financial value as I doubt UOG have millions to throw at us but along with RSK sounds like a good partnership.

No doubt it will be dismissed as cheap, "woke" and somehow not "proper" or prestigious enough by some.

    Wonder where this leaves ITRM?

Also hope that this time they use the university's proper logo not just the words.

    Credit to Wayne Mumford.

Would imagine it’s a partnership to help the training ground/cat 1 status as much as possible!

Is this the other ‘big money’ partnership Mumford alluded to a while back after RSK

I hope not, can't imagine it's worth much.

If only Castore sponsored both Charlton and Kent then they could do a mash up kit.

Possibly but could also be the Castore deal.

Castore have been throwing a lot of VC cash around, so wouldn't surprise me if that was the big money

I agree on the home kit, certainly. I disagree on the black kit though.

One issue, I never got one!
The black one once worn about 5 times bobbles and looks grey all the way, mainly caused by the front being a printed design.
Mine hasn't had that problem, doing me just fine after the curse on the black purple and green kit passed to me from the team
Wearing the black shirt today and have done quite a few times. Mine is fine too.

Happy to partner with them, though unusual to have UoG on the away kit, and a completely different sponsor on the home and 3rd kit. Usually the sponsors are either all the same or are different brand names of the same business

It will be interesting who the other shirt sponsors are, you would hope the home kit sponsor would be more commercial (without being say a gambling firm) as after all, that was the reason for bringing in someone like Mumford, to improve our commercial income.

Aren’t RSK the home shirt sponsor?

    Correct, I'd forgotten about them!

Interesting that RSK will only sponsor the home shirt, and UoG the away shirt, so the 3rd kit will have a 3rd sponsor?

I don't know all the details for UoG deal, assume no money passes hand? What is the value to Charlton, all I can see is a lot of benefits to them?

If you know no details why would your assumption be that no money passes hands?

Probably because like most universities the UoG works within a tight budget.
I can't see it being in a position to throw much money at Charlton.

The press release doesn't go in to much detail.. and the use of 'partnership' rather than 'sponsorship'. The release is very much about what UoG are receiving and very little about what Charlton are getting..

I can remember reading a while back that the Uni might be investing in to Sparrows Lane (or did I make that up)

But perhaps the UofG deal is beneficial in forging closer links with the community.
We’re a mid table third division team. Tik Tok aren’t at the door with a blank cheque.
I think it’s a good move personally and I like that it’s a local university that’s on the shirt rather than Bet 365.

My Dad worked for the UoG for nearly 30-years, retired a couple of years ago but was still working for them when we signed the first deal with them - He was very much of that opinion; He thought it was typical of the University to throw the little money they had at something that there wasnt much point in.

Hopefully its been more of a charitable thing from us

As we also tend to have a handful of matchdays where Students get heavily involved themselves.

I wonder if it will help us to get cat 1 status. Pure guess but if true the value would be huge without the need for money changing hands

Sounds good to me. My mate both works for UoG and is club secretary of a junior football club that gets grassroots tickets. I may never need to buy a ticket again!

Universities are some of the biggest wasters of money out  there! UoG is probably one of the better but they're nowhere near as tight fisted as is being made out.

Plus UoG have a steady stream of TV/Film income because of the sheer volume of productions using the navel college as a location

Universities operate in a highly competitive market, made even more so by Covid, and the resulting drop in Chinese students in particular, and by the B word we mustn't mention.

So they spend a lot on advertising and getting their "brand" well known.

I have no idea how much hard cash they have put in but remember this is only one shirt sponsor, there is also RSK who are the main IE Home shirt sponsor.

Thomas also mentioneds the importance of extra finance in the launch piece which implies that there is money changing hands.

On partnerships the club now describes all the firms that work with it as "partners".  Watch Charlton TV and see KW, the name currently on our shirt, DNL Events, ITRM etc all listed as partners although those three do all do more than just put money in as I understand it.

It's either "just marketing speak" if you are a cynic or "reflecting the importance of long term relationships beyond just money" if you're not : - )

Yes, that would be great.. and would bring more value than cash long term!
