Can be given players and adapt to make them the best they can be. Excellent coaching credentials and has a lot of credibility throughout the football world of being an excellent coach.
However, what looks good on paper usually never goes as well in reality. Lack of management experience can make a good coach fold completely (See Mr. Reed for example).

To be completely honest I’m just bored if it now. Managers, players… they just swap every few months / years and get paid regardless.
Personally I’d prefer a young manager from the lower leagues (ours or league two, even the leagues below) who has had some success, with a positive style of football, who has that passion, whilst delivering modern methods. (Jackson isn’t one of those I know, but he’s gone so…) with waining interest. There are too many of those floating around with no real move for the game anymore. It’s too easy for them to jump from club to club.
If not a young manager then a young coach at a bigger club with something to prove as a manager at a lower level.
We need fresh ideas, a new face to the club, and not someone who’s done the rounds already.

Look at who is in charge of coaching these coaches through their badges. Anyone who saw his Cambridge team play would say he is the poster boy for dinosaurs.
I just want the best possible candidate and don't care if he is 77 or 27, as long as he is good.

I think that what I meant was I’d like someone who is more forward thinking in terms of strategy, technical analysis, and who is tactically able to actually change the shape and approach of a team DURING a game (when did we last have someone who could do that effectively?!).
It wasn’t necessarily an age related dig, more wanting someone who isn’t set in their ways in terms of their overall approach, and just happy to just take a wage until they’re done (sacked) and move on without any real concern for the club in the long term. There are way too many like that unfortunately.
None of the realistic names mentioned fill me with excitement to be honest but I guess that's the level we are at. Just really hoping for higher tempo attacking football as not sure I can cope with much more tapping it around the back followed by a hoof up the line as a primary tactic.

Steve Kean sounds like a lesser version of Nigel Adkins imo - not had a proper job in management for the best part of 10 years, no history of success nor experience in the lower EFL leagues.

Yes James there is. I was there yesterday as a player left me a ticket for the Millwall v Sheff Wed professional development League game. I was in the Bob Crowe gallery with the scouts, agents, parents and siblings. My son is in the football business and we were there as 5 ex Kinetic boys were playing. Also a few Millwall fans who were well into middle age who I recognized from crime watch. One guy wore shorts but with a jacket and had a tattoo of the Millwall lion on one leg and a giant spanner on the other; Plus a Jeremy Corbyn T-Shirt. He was very polite TBF but wasn't convinced by my Sarf London accent, and the fact I still had my own teeth. I did escape from Bermondsey on my 1st birthday when my family moved to the safety of a war zone in the Gaza strip.
Picked out the Just 18 year old LB for the lions Nino Adom Malaki and *Bobby Dunn who may be 19 now and has just been given a short deal by the massive and is a dopel ganger of Jack Wilshere but stronger and doesn't go down.
* Bobby was portrayed as a moaner on the BT documentary but has a left foot to die for. If he matures and stays fit listen out for him.

I know that this isn't the first time I've mentioned him and I'm going to sound like a warped record but I am scratching my head as to why Matt Taylor isn't being talked up or included in the betting for our next Manager. So, what is wrong with the credentials of someone that
(1) is not just leading his team to promotion but on the verge of being Champions too
(2) is managing a team that has picked up 50 out of the last 66 points available
(3) is in charge of a side that has only conceded 6 goals in their last 12 matches when the pressure for promotion is at its greatest
(4) has been in the same job for four seasons with a win record of 45% and a loss record of just 25% from 212 games in charge
(5) was a major part of CP's League 1 Champions team in playing in 41 of the 46 games that season
(6) is so open to different footballing ideas so much so that, at the very late age of 23, he switched from being a keeper to a centre back. Who has ever done that successfully?
(7) played for his current club as he did for us so has proven credentials for being able to play, coach and manage at the same club
(8) played with a major figure in our backroom staff namely Jason Euell
(9) is known for bringing through young players - six of the 14 players used in their last game are 23 or younger and only two are older than 27
(10) Success despite having to sell the attacking influences of Randell Williams, Ryan Bowman and Joey Randall but identified suitable replacements
(11) Will know how to bring the very best out of Stockley who he managed at Exeter and unless we sell him that will be a major key to our success
(12) on his release as a player, our very own fans said of him on CL: "Never once moaned about losing his place and was always available when called upon. Great pro, good luck to him" "Had the pleasure of a round of golf with him and he was genuinely a great bloke" "Was on Matt's table at the sponsors do in the promotion season. If we want someone who will, potentially, build for the future as opposed to a short term fix then why not go for a Manager with a proven record for doing so and who carries no baggage with him. There are clues from what our supporters who know him said when he left us and what Exeter fans are saying now so far as his personality is concerned. But we also know that he likes his sides to play entertaining football, that he is tactically sound and knows who and what type of player to bring in. In fact, he sounds very much like Eddie Howe and his playing background is similar too - I don't think Howe ever played above League 1.
And for those that still have doubts about his ability to produce the magical, from five years ago when he was the Exeter defensive coach, please watch this!
PS Disclosure - if he gets the job I should be getting a "finders fee" from the Club - linked to his level of his success of course!!!
Because he's just got his team promoted to League 1 & will probably finish higher than us next season.
Starting early Golfie - we've only just finished this season. On that basis though, are you suggesting that any Manager we employ should be told that finishing above Exeter is the aim?
I hope Sandgaard has a good handle on youth football in this country because that’s probably the best place to find someone who will accept this style of management.

I might be delusional here, but we are Charlton and they are Exeter. They can afford to have a trial and error with an inexperienced manager and float in league 2 as they just aren’t as an attractive as a project as we are. We should be a championship side and shouldn’t be allowing inexperienced managers anywhere near us. Really feels like we’ve become far too happy with mediocrity. I wouldn’t be happy with it taking a manager 4 years to get us out of this league. If we have the budget as advertised then it should be done in one, two at most. Plenty of sides have proven it’s possible in the past and plenty will again
