I know its only be roughly 18 months of this new ownership, but what a torrid 18 months it has been. Things really don't seem like there improving if anything there getting worse, we just sacked a manager yeah that deserved sacking but doing this with no plan going forward, no manager is coming here that can't pick the players he wants and is going to have players forced upon him like last season. We've got season ticket sales dropping like flies because there is no ambition, everything seems to be done on the cheap, but all we get is the talk from the owner and no actions !!!
And don't come at me and say "HE SAVED US" because he hasn't, administration didn't do bad to Wigan did it !!

Get your own wallet out then. Very, very easy to spend other peoples’ money.19

Sandgaard regularly uses the words 'blown away' but I have failed to be blown away by any of his actions to date.
Not advocating any sort of protests though.
Big big few months for him. See where we are by Christmas.0 -
We need an element of realism here. TS isn't going to dump loads of cash on us, and I doubt there are a queue of people willing and able to replace him. He's also still a major upgrade on the shysters previous. The season tickets are down because the footballs been crap, and some of that unfortunately has to be down to JJ with his fixed formation and poor loans. That has been resolved.
But It all comes down to who the new boss is, and the players we sign.4 -
TS running of the club raises eyebrows and rightfully dug out in certain areas.
But in no way has it reached anywhere near this level yet.
And I will say “he saved us” because he did and then spunked 8m of his own dosh last year, just because we’re getting restless doesn’t change or dilute that fact.17 -
I do love the fact that people were fine with Thomas hiring his son in a leading recruitment role.
Replacing Red, Red, Robin with his own metal song.
The debacle of the summer transfer window last year.
But god forbid he lets Jackson go after a poor season.3 -

He cocked up with RedRedRobin but listened and reinstated it.
The last summer transfer window seemed rushed and mismanaged but haven't most of them been, but we better learn from this, this year. He certainly cocked up with the storm the league comments, but at the time (new manager, buoyant season ticket sales, new squad) he probably thought we would.
He was forced into hiring Jackson by the new manager bounce and fan opinion, he was right to let JJ go because the football was crap. Its now all down to who replaces him.
And who exactly from the hoards of potential investors currently banging on the glass door at the Valley to get in, do you want to replace TS??5 -
This is an embarrassment of a thread. I think you may need to go support Manchester City. The guy has done SO much in 18 months and every single decision has been with the right intentions for the club. He hasn’t got it all right but he’s trying to.Matters on the pitch haven’t improved over the last 18 months, but matters off it are 1,000 times better. He is completely building the infrastructure of a club that will be ready to go up and stay up. Even yesterday’s appointment of the academy manager from Cambridge is showing that.
Short of an open chequebook, which he simply doesn’t have, what are you expecting from him?!You are right, Wigan went into administration and could start from nothing which made it far easier to sign all the players they needed as they had NO players left. They also went perilously close, as did we, to no longer being a football club.
People just think miracles can happen overnight, instead of through hard work, effort and time.
For me, by far his biggest mistake with his communication was the ‘blow the league out the water’ comment. But that was only down to over excitement.
He’s not perfect but no one is. But protesting against him after 18 months of trying to turn a dying carcass of a club around. Do me a bloody favour.30 -
14th January 2023 at home to Morecambe when we’re 19th in the league with Euell as caretaker manager.0

I think measured criticism or feedback to keep Sandgaard honest is fine.
However unless it is shown that Sandgaard elbowed a multi billionaire out of the way so he could grab Charlton then the two minute haters are simply wrong.
People can vote with their feet on this, and they will, but for me some kind of club stability has been of great benefit to my personal equilibrium.11 -

For. Fuck's. Sake. The protests were a really great thing started off and maintained by some very committed, and in many cases very brave people. The problem is though this seems to have had a left over effect on quite a lot of other people where they now feel obliged to have a massive tantrum every time they don't like what's going on upstairs at the club. Might be Charlton PTSD from the Roland and ESI years but why the hell would you start protesting against the owner because he's not yet hired a manager to replace the one he removed? In May. When there are no games. People keep talking about there not being ambition and no money being spent and Sandgaard being skint but what they actually mean is 'he's not doing what I want him to'. I'm not particularly happy with how things are going either. I have concerns about the recruitment process, I'm interested in a slightly worried way to see what Martin's role actually is and Sandgaard's hard-headedness isn't ideal. He's also a pretty standard owner in many ways in that he's throwing away his money with no hope of return because he has an agenda. For some (rarely) that's love of the club and normally happens at a much lower level, for others it's to try and humanise a human rights abusing government, for some it's a mistaken idea they can make money, at a high level it's to leverage debt against the club and take out dividends as directors, on very rare occasions it's to insulate onself against reprisals from a European dictator, and in many, many cases it's ego, the chance to succeed at something and have thousands cheering you for it. Sandgaard isn't alone in wanting to do things his way. He's also quite mad; who else who buy a third division club at the worst possible time to get involved in football and throw millions and millions of their own money away? Unfortunately you do get the rough with the smooth when it comes to owners. He does do good things though; he changes things when it becomes clear they're wrong, he engages well with the fans and he does actually want Charlton to succeed both on and off the pitch. The protests happened against Roland because he was actively against the fans, trying to prove his stupid point pretty much to spite us by the end. They didn't happen because we weren't very good at football or we sacked the manager or we didn't seem to have the best on-pitch strategy. People would do well to remember that. Also, if you honestly think that a manager won't come to a club because they don't have full say over transfers then you are an idiot. At every level managers join clubs with insane owners knowing full well that at some point they're going to fail and get sacked, as they will at every club. At Watford the ownership buy the players they want and then happily sack the manager after 3 months if they feel like it. Roy Hodgson still came out of retirement to manage them. Bowyer signed a new contract under ESI despite knowing it was all a scam. The Allams at Hull, SISU at Coventry, the Oystons at Blackpool, the Glazers, Mike Ashley, those clubs have never had an issue attracting managers. We even had ok managers under Roland some of the time. I want Charlton to be good at football, I acknowledge that they might not be. I'm not going to start protesting and disrupting matches because they released Conor Washington or we used some data to sign a centre back.23

Bit early yet. Let’s see where we are in 12 months time.
Would it not be inflatable guitars instead of pigs though?5 -

Of course there are things he needs to do better. Of course there are things I would like him to do differently.
I don't want to live through another set of protests, under Roland they actually made it worse.4 -
One of the main reasons the last few months have been so "torrid" (your word), is because TS done what the vast majority of the fan base were demanding.1

Embarrassing.
The worst thing about being a Charlton fan is other Charlton fans.21 -

Perhaps even getting into the Premier League, could we be certain that protests would have existed
People would have been upset with what Roland did (As Garry listed), and may not have liked him being an absent owner. But same with Sandgaard, if the club produces on the pitch, lets be realistic, not enough people would care about what was happening off it.0 -

For 1 I'm not saying protest now, but at what stage if things don't get better do things like that start to happen ???5
