The whole game hinged on Stevens' injury - he was on 18 off 15 at the time and we were a batsman short in the line up anyway plus, of course, we lost his bowling. The other aspect of our game that has been really below par is our fielding - it has been awful at times.0 -

On a more positive note, Joe Denly's nephew, Jaydn, has been playing for Kent U18s against Hants this week in a 3-day Championship match. The game didn't start too well for Jaydn as he was out for a duck in the first innings but he then returned bowling figures of 9-5-14-5 in Hants first innings, scored 82 in Kent's second innings and finished the game with 21-6-36-4 in Hants second innings. Jadyn definitely has the potential to follow in his uncle's footsteps albeit that he is a bit different in the sense that he bats left handed and bowls left arm orthodox spin.1

Wasn't able to watch the stream after 3pm but came home to a very disappointing result after decent innings by Blakey & Ollie but a very special ton from our new lad.

His shoulder is a serious injury, and he was still in pain when he bowled for the first time in 8 weeks (a month ago); it was great to watch a master at work up-close though, even if he was rusty. Sigh...no trains on the London Bridge to Lower Sydenham (via Lewisham) line due to engineering works, so will have to go to Beckenham Hill or Beckenham Junction instead0

Must be but, having lost Stevens, we are, effectively two bowlers down from the last game. We still, in theory, have six frontline bowlers but it, effectively, means we have picked Stewart as a batsman only at 7. Contrast that to say Warwickshire's Kai Smith (plays for Sandwich in the Kent League and who is a keeper batsman but who isn't keeping in this game) who has batted at 9 in both his Royal London games (but not actually made it out to the middle in either of them).billysboots said:

None who are consistently making scores. The nearest one would be someone like Joe Gordon who has hit three tons in the Kent Premier League in the last month or so. I see George Ealham has taken a couple of catches as sub - he started the season batting at 3 and bowling a bit but now he bats at 8 and is used more as a bowler.billysboots said:

Love it or hate it , this is an ideal opportunity to test some of the youngsters. Would it be fair to say we aren’t producing enough at the moment ?Addick Addict said:
