Charlie Kirk (p68 - released by Barrow)

Whilst I agree, I can also see Garner tempted to use the money for a striker. Leaburn, Payne and Clayden can all play in the wide areas of that front 3 so it's an area we're pretty stacked in compared to CB and STR.wmcf123 said:
Long season ahead and with CBT flakey with injuries , we will need all 4, especially if Leaburn is being used as a number 9 in the absence of Chuks.cafcfan1990 said:
I still think Kirk is most likely because if Blackpool come in he’ll want to go. Do think all 4 will stay though and it’s a decent set with different qualities. Just gotta hope Garners coaching leads them all to chipping in.sam3110 said:I think of the 4 wingers we have now, if one leaves it's DJ1 -
DJ was very good against QPR so I wouldn't write him off either. Why offload wingers when we've got 2 CMs to get rid of?11

He was ok yeah, for one half. Have we got 2 CMs to get rid of or just one? If it's one in one out then I could see a CM and DJ out for a left-footed defender and striker.Pelling1993 said:DJ was very good against QPR so I wouldn't write him off either. I'd sooner offload Gibley & JFC than either of DJ or Kirk. Would rather give Henry minutes in CM if we are shortcafcfan1990 said:

I can see DJ slotting into the team how they were playing yesterday, albeit not as violently well as JRS and with perhaps less weird floaty danger energy than Kirk - he'd still have fitted in. JFC could have maybe, MAYBE done the Fraser role, but with less mobility. Gilbey? No comment1

I think we need 6. The point someone made about Henry being wasted as a 6th choice because he could miss U21 games to sit on a bench or travel as a reserve was a reasonable one. One of them CMs needs to go though, no doubt about that. Having two failing to make the bench shows that.Pelling1993 said:

You can only off load what people are prepared to pay for. Even if we "jogged one on" to a league 2 club we would be paying a high % of their wages.Pelling1993 said:DJ was very good against QPR so I wouldn't write him off either. Why offload wingers when we've got 2 CMs to get rid of?
Is, for arguments sake, Wimbledon paying 1k a week of JFC's wages going to effect the budget?1 -
Definitely room for 4 wingers in this team and for them to be somewhat rotated on a horses for courses basis. Want to get at their full backs with raw pace and tricks - JRS + CBT. Need a bit less directness and a bit more guile - start Kirk. They have a good winger and one of the fullbacks will need a bit more protection - DJ is your main.Payne and Leaburn are wild cards too.We could probably lose one of them and still have decent options, but there’s definitely room for all of them. We’re all excited now, but JRS did tire on Tuesday so we don’t know if he can start week in week out just yet, CBT has had injuries before, and wingers are notorious for losing form suddenly and dramatically.3

It could be in my mind but from the off this year it’s felt like the comms team have focused on Kirk somewhat more than other players, including him in lots of early pre season social media stuff for example.
Its one of the reasons I mentioned on the previous page that I thought he would likely stay and be a big player for us this year.If so I wonder if that was by design to make him feel more confident/part of the group etc?3 -
I did sometimes write in a post match thread how many players were playing out of position and it would often be half the team. Very telling.Dazzler21 said:

Tbf he was barely here under Jacko. Regardless of opinions on style of play, his team was always set up with a clear structure.Dazzler21 said:

Awkward for Jacko that.Adkins’ spell felt a lot more aimless to me.But obviously it’s a game of opinions.8 -
I was calling for him to be taken off. Not because he was poor, I wanted to see b-Taylor run at their defence.InspectorSands said:Scored about 90 seconds after the bloke behind us called for him to be taken off, which made me smile.
Hopefully that's done him a world of good.0 -
Hope he stays. I think he’s starting to enjoy his football and has finally settled. In a team predominantly on the front foot I think he’s a real asset. Technically good and can create and score goals. I don’t think his early time and patchy performances were anything to do with lack of talent.3

Who's idea was it to play the tantric porn music on loop over the interview? Bloody annoying #bringbackolly

You beat me to it. The background music they play over many/most of the interviews - just why?Clem_Snide said:Who's idea was it to play the tantric porn music on loop over the interview? Bloody annoying #bringbackolly
It's not the best quality sound in any case, I find it very annoying and counter productive.
I'm not generally aware of anyone else in any other situation that think it a good idea to play some awful background music, so you struggle to hear what the interviewee is saying.
PS It's been happening for a good while.1 -
I don’t think he did enough on Saturday. I dislike watching a player that doesn’t watch the ball especially at throw-ins. He constantly walked away from the ball with his head down and not offering himself to the thrower. His crossing was poor. I hope he puts in a shift on his next performance.0

He created our only goal18

I really like how nothing he does is ever aimless. He is always trying to pick someone out rather than knocking it into a general area. The one thing that has frustrated me in the last two games is he's just always offside5

wasn't that Clayden who must have been offside 3 times in ten mins at one point ...
probably both
it was proper no awareness stuff
football basics , when youre hugging the touchline you can see all the way across so shouldn't be getting offside that regularly

can we change the title pls?2

His delivery from that side of the pitch, which both his right and left foot, has been fantastic this season I think.Chunes said:He created our only goal
It's a bit like Fraser, many people are always going to question him as he is not all action player. Where as I would certainly agree that he leaves us somewhat exposed with his defending at the back, one of the reasons we were so effective against Wednesday was due to his pressing from the front.
He's had a decent start to the season, and he certainly at that age where it feels like he could develop nicely over the next few years.6 -
Clayden and Kirk were as bad as each other when it came to staying onside.oohaahmortimer said:wasn't that Clayden who must have been offside 3 times in ten mins at one point ...

Least they've got they're synced together in that regard0 -
Agree. He's put about six clearcut chances on Stockley's head so far this season, that Jayden should really have put away. You can see why he has topped the stats for chances created in the league.FishCostaFortune said:

The audio won't be brilliant, probably a bit echoey due to being at the training ground and not actually in a studio or anything. So the "background" music is used to smooth this out. These club interviews with players from any club will have a similar setup, probably only a press conference type situation would be the only one to not have the music.Covered End said:

Also, because they're usually clipped up for social media, that's the format for social media platforms. Annoying or not, that's the way they do it now...0 -
I was on that touchline, just infront of the 18 yard box. Only once was he actually offside.oohaahmortimer said:wasn't that Clayden who must have been offside 3 times in ten mins at one point ...

Was at the match and thought that Kirk had another good game he has quality.3
-
It was the only time he was really allowed any kind of space to create anything. Credit to Cambridge for that.Chunes said:He created our only goal
Dobson’s pass over to his flank after a bit of pinball in the centre circle is what really opened Cambridge up. Kirk then had the technical ability to get lift the ball into a dangerous area and the rest took care of itself.2
