I think it massively puts the onus on Red Bull to hit the ground running in 2023 , if they get things wrong it could be insurmountable with 20% less time than Merc or Ferrari.1 -
Punishment seems about right to me. It’s important that there is something more that just a financial deterrent in there so the loss of wind tunnel time is significant. Seems unlikely that the fairly minor over spend was a deciding factor in the championship last season. Much as I’d have loved to see the smug prick Horner have his championships taken away from him, this seems a reasonable outcome.3

How on earth can they even calculate that. Absolute bollocks. Less wind tunnel time but working with a car that has a very strong initial design and you could still come out much faster. Start with a crap car and all wind tunnel time alone won’t make up the difference. Russell top of FP2 and FP3, with Mercedes locking out the front row by half a second in the latter... Lets hope this translates into Qualifying later, we've been here before of course.1 -
Still think Red Bull will come through.... only thing I will say is that the Merc has a massive drag issue down the straights.... but with the thin air and altitude that will be negated to a point. So if they are competitive here, it makes sense.1

I think Ferrari made a good point that there should also have been a budget cut commensurate with the loss of time or they could potentially channel the costs into a different development area which could lessen the disadvantage.1

Makes me laugh that Red Bull are refusing to speak to Sky indefinitely because they dont like the narrative that they're being painted with - I mean Horner only a few weeks ago was stressing how they hadn't broken the cost cap etc. and that they were disgusted with the labels they were being given as a result.
Now it appears they don't like the truth - Guess they're trying to protect the Red Bull brand name1 -
If I was Mercedes, I would try to have two different strategies. If Verstappen is leading a Merc, he will cover its strategy off. But there are hopefully two mercs.1
