Southgate has been deliberating between Saka and Phil Foden for England’s opening game against Iran, with the Arsenal star hopeful of getting the nod.
The England manager is in line to start with a back four and use both Saka and Mason Mount in advanced positions. The pair sparked a brilliant turnaround as substitutes in England’s last warm-up game against Germany, with the Chelsea midfielder scoring.

I would play Saka, Kane and Foden as the front three personally.
Then Bellingham, Rice and Mount deeper.
Back 4 - Trippier, Stones, Maguire, Shaw.
It’s Iran FFS we don’t need 3 centre backs. A back 4 with Stones and Maguire was our strength at the Euros9 -

Will be 9pm in Perth, WA too! Was going to head off to the local to watch it only to be told they're operating under their normal hours on a Monday so closing at 10pm. WTH! Solid first XI (I wouldn't have Maquire though)....Rice and Bellingham have to start, the latter most certainly isn't a defensive midfielder. To be fair, we've so many options in those wide attacking areas, if whoever gets the nod isn't producing then there's plenty on the bench to come on.
Subs in this tournament will be key (as they were for the women's team in the Euro's)
