I have sympathy for anybody in pain, but it's getting a bit silly now. His Clubs have carried him through the game and it's kinda catching up with all now.Seen it all before with Danny Hayes. But he was performing at a higher level.1

Funny how when he went off a couple of weeks ago, nothing showed up on the scan. I'm beginning to think his problems might be more psychological than physical, but whatever it is, he's no use to us.12

Brownie was bang on the money when he said today that he was not pointing a finger at our physios but Chuck's situation needs sorting out by the consultants once and for all, whether its physical or mental, whatever the cost to the club of those consultations.9

I don't understand how you can have a scan that reveals no injury but then go out and aggravate the same injury that apparently didn't exist in the first place
Can any of our resident CL physios explain9 - Sponsored links:

When Chuks was substitued against Brighton he looked close to tears. All this "he is work shy", "nicking a living" bollocks is out of order.Garner hinted earlier in the season that he needed some support with his mental health. Yes, his injuries are frustrating, but the kicking he is getting on here and on social media is bang out of order imo.Even if the issue is in his head, it is still an issue. If he is going into match days thinking his body is going to let him down then he needs help addressing that not a load of grief from fans.I am guessing he is in a place where he is utterly paranoid that the slightest twinge is something major about to flare up.As for today, I am guessing the decision was made for him and as soon as he limped away from the warm up he was removed from tje squad.I'd like to see him given the space he clearly needs to get himself sorted. If that means he is out for an extended period working through his issues then so be it.Steve Brown was bang out of order today. Smirking and sniggering when Minto raised his injury record. Think what you like mate, but show a bit of compassion/professionalism.31

And I agree, I think its mental not physical. I think it's got to such a stage now that Chuks believes he is going to break down....so does.
Maybe a session with a hypnotherapist might help.0 -

Send Stockley as well, he's got an unhealthy aversion to goals, when he gets near them he slows down and waves his arms around and falls over, 'onionbagphobic', it's been going around awhile and affects everyone and is tragic to see.

No idea what we do with Chuks. He’s got what is it 2.5 years left on his contract ? I doubt we’ll see him again this campaign so it’s treatment room, modified pre season and have him ready for the start of next season. That’s realistically all we’ve got isn’t it ? Paying him off would be as costly as keeping him and I think he deserves having the benefit of our treatment room. Get him ready for next season and hope he stays fit but be ready for both the club and perhaps Chuks to make some big decisions should the cycle continue as is.2

Lee Bowyer
Given how poorly Aneke has performed at Championship level (3 goals in 38 appearances) the jury had to be out as to why Bowyer signed him at Birmingham. He knew from previous experience what he was and wasn't capable of doing but Aneke was a free (when money was tight at Birmingham) and that he would accept a two year contract on more money than he was with us. In a struggling Birmingham side, Aneke made just one start plus 17 sub appearances scoring two goals during half a season in which the team had failed to score on no less than 13 occasions. Interestingly that one and only start came just two weeks before the transfer window opened.
Bowyer must have concluded at that point that Aneke was not only a non starter but wasn't capable of regularly influencing games from the bench either and as he needed to free up a spot to bring someone in, Aneke was the obvious candidate to go. But he needed to find a club that was prepared to take him and pay money too as this would allow him to buy someone to strengthen the team. That player turned out to Bacuna from Rangers - 37 League starts and 5 sub appearances in less than a year.
However, Aneke would have had to have been persuaded that it would be in his interests to move. He was on Championship money but only had 18 months left there. With a history of injuries (an 11 year career at an average of 15 starts per season is evidence enough), the security of a contract that would take him two years beyond that and to the age of 32 would have been an attractive one - potentially less money but (and I am guessing at the figures) three and a half years at £200k PA is more beneficial than one and a half years at £300k PA especially as he couldn't be certain that he would get another meaningful contract at the age of 30. A two and a half year contract would not, probably, have been enough to persuade him/his agent. Which is why, I suspect, the somewhat unusual duration of contract came about.
All Bowyer had to do was to find a club that would be willing to take Aneke . One phone call to us was probably enough especially as we were desperate for some extra fire power and as January is an awful time to try and find that striker he ticked a lot of boxes than most others - the decision maker in question probably hoped that he could replicate that one good season with us.
I was doubtful when we signed him but not so much from the perspective of the signing itself but that length of contract. When I raised the question regarding this and the fact that TS had set the target of promotion sooner rather than later, my point was that League 1 was his upper level and that we would need to offload him if we got to the Championship. The standard response was "we'll always find someone to take him should that situation arrive". I very much doubt that we will now and certainly not on the terms that would be better than Aneke is on with us.
The target now has to be to once and for all get to the bottom of what is and has been the issue throughout his career at various times. Once and for all - because the times I've seen Aneke in recent appearances smacks of someone going through the motions. Someone who is fearful rather than the intimidating beast he can be when at his best. That will take some real honesty from Aneke in particular because only he can truly convey whether this is a physical or mental issue. If it's a physical one then, sadly, he may have to call it a day and for the Club's insurance policy to kick in. If it's a mental one then, presumably, that won't be covered by any such policy so, in those circumstances, Aneke needs the best possible psychological help to get him back on the pitch firing.0 -
Feel sorry for the lad but in football terms he’s a perpetual passenger and we can’t afford to have him.5
