All the talk of consortiums made me think that in times past we had consortiums of a sort at the top of the club.
And mostly, fans wouldn't have recognised them in the street.

Indeed while it wasn't a formal consortium that owned us back in the 90s, I think we really benefitted from having a diverse board, rather than the club being run by one individual.1
