    Very sad. Extraordinarily talented man.
  • He was perfectly balanced on the tightrope of being Vulgar, smutty and crude without offending. No easy feat.

Sad news - I once got hit in the eye by a gladiola Dame Edna threw into the audience... RIP Barry.

A clip of him being interviewed on Parkinson as Dame Edna came up on my Twitter timeline yesterday. Brilliantly funny.

Tragic news and one of the few RIP threads on this forum where I feel a real sense of loss.

Saw Dame Edna in concert many years ago but I think my favourite was probably, Sir Les Patterson. Can’t remember if he made an appearance on the same show.

R I P Sir Les, you will be deeply missed.

Remember seeing a clip of Sir Les Patterson come out on stage and just stand there sniffing his finger for the fIrst few minutes of the set. One of the funniest, simplest things I've ever seen. You definitely had to be there, but it was very funny.

    RIP

Truly funny man who didn't take himself or his country of birth too seriously.

    Very funny bloke.
He once ate a tin of sweetcorn out of an aeroplane sick bag and freaked everybody out.
    RIP.

Loved Sir Les Patterson, brilliant! RIP Barry
  • Had the pleasure of seeing Dame Edna and Sir Les live too many years ago now. Came out of the theatre in physical pain from laughing so much. One of a kind.

    RIP Barry.

Wanted to LOL this so I have. I’m sure Barry wouldn’t mind.

As a kid, I would watch the boring talk shows my mum and dad would watch if he was on them.

RiP to a true comedy genius. Loved Dame Edna but Sir Les was always my favourite. His interview with the late Australian journalist Mike Willesee always has me laughing out loud.

I have no idea when I saw his show in London but it was sheer genius. Sir Les Paterson had hardly been seen on TV and one of the funniest shows I have been too.
Dame Edna was a great creation.

Great comedian and a good artist. Once saw him in Waitrose in Finchley Road. Larger than life and unmissable man. RIP
