Get your joke but Payne has bagged one or two few very nice headed goals, to be fair to him.seth plum said:He will be the target man for set pieces so defenders don’t notice Jack Payne.7 -
Swear people forget about Chris Perry whenever talking about a players height on here
He's not the ultimate answer either, but he won more than enough headers0 -
Payne is the one player that I just don't know how to feel about.grumpyaddick said:

He is clearly technically able, can shoot, can dribble, can turn players inside out but is so inconsistent it drives me mad.7 -
I think he headed 2 goals0
-
I’m hoping we keep Payne. In a consistently better team I think he’d be an asset to the squad.3

Interesting to read he’s a leader as well as a goalscorer. Sounds like he’s desperate to do well and play in the Championship before it’s too late for him.22

Some players for some undefinable reason seem to become talisman for the team and fans. I think it’s fair to say we’ve had a few over the seasons. Kinsella, Kermorgant, Jackson but we havnt had one since JJ retired. Let’s see if Alfie can take it on. I certainly like both Alfie’s and Holdens comments.10

I just hope we will have the players to give him the service that he needs to reach his target0

Delighted to read he's the kind of player who drives standards in the dressing room. It's clear we've not had many of those over the last few years. Sign a few more players with the right attitude and we might start to look like a Charlton team again.11

At the moment he is our marquee signing and I am excited to see him.lancashire lad said:I just hope we will have the players to give him the service that he needs to reach his target
I'll feel a lot happier if we can get 3 or 4 more of similar calibre in.
What we don't want to see is is a frustrated gem amongst a sea of mid table mediocrity hoofing balls up to him in desperation8 -

With Campbell, CBT, Kirk and Fraser supplying the passes - he will get chances but we need more consistency there.

Anyone else think he looks like Daniel Radcliffe every time he smiles? 🤔3
-
Can definitely see a similarity.1

I watched his goals video, impressed - goals from all over the pitch, tap ins, rockets, driving at defenders, always moving.
A decisive player with initiative, attitude, work rate and fight.
The character of player we've often been lacking in recent seasons.
He may not be Prem standard but right now, sounds exactly what we need in the Third Division.

Thought that was great. More content like that please. We’ve gotta hope that the kind of positive relationship those two have could lead to a new contract being accepted by Dobbo. 🙏clive said:0 -
I have to agree May does look like Daniel Ratcliffe.2

Funny to think that a load of us were worrying about May not signing when we were the team he had his heart set on. Not that I was ever worried, I knew we would get him over the line..Callumcafc said:
Can we also class Tommy Rowe as 'an alright bloke'. Skied it to send us to Wembley and give many of us two of the most memorable days as an Addick AND got in the Gaffers ear about May and vice versa

Funnily from that Semi-Final at the Valley, one of my favourite replays watching back is the Tommy Rowe goal, easy to say I know because we won, probably be different had we lostBraziliance said:

Bit concerned they’re sharing a four poster double bed. I know it’s all about team bonding but I think this is taking it too far!clive said:2 -
Even funnier that those who like to think they are in the know were telling us that Holden didn’t even want Alfie.Braziliance said:
