What League Position Are We Going To Finish in?

Ok ladies and gentlemen, the runners and riders are in (not all of them as yet) but the general consensus is that we’re going in the right direction.
Colours to the mast, (no pressure) where do you think we will finish in League one this season?
Personally I am bored of schlupping around the country to tinpot grounds, and am desperate to get out of this division.
I know people will say it’s ridiculous to call it before the seasons started, give it 10 games , than we’ll have a better picture, and that’s totally fair comment.
As things stand I’m going for a 5th place finish, if we get a few more decent players in , in the right positions we could be 2nd.
Its a huge jump up from finishing mid table for the last 2 seasons, to then challenging to get out of the division,, hard, but not mission impossible.
I know people will say it’s putting pressure on ourselves (pressure can be a good thing if you have a strong mindset) but colours to the mast as of today 5th.
We’re probably going to sign Ladapo, Nombe, and anyone else with a ‘hot pair of boots’ after I type this and make my prediction worthless. :-0
And yes I did say ‘hot boots, and not something else.

Few caveats. First, the new signings seem a step in right direction but remains to be seen if they are actually any good or will gel (we got excited about Kirk and McGrandles…Second, we are all impressed by Dean’s people skills and the fact that he “gets” us. But this will be a big test if his tactical ability and this is “his” squad so there is a bit expectation. Third, the new ownership arrangements need to bed down and new structures/people settle in. Hopefully a period of stability and prudent management and a feeler fly quiet time off the field. Fourth, our injury curse. Please can someone shake some beads or do some kinda dance as we can’t just be that unlucky surely!! Four quite big caveats but, that said, we are in as good and refreshed a position as we could reasonably have hoped so I’m quite optimistic. Another couple of quality ins and a few more out and hopefully we should be challenging for top six.4

Well, I’ll say 3rd. Very hopeful.0

I will hold fire until opening day of season.
My thinking at moment is we need to improve squad with the correct players and not to be too reliable on the Youth.
Really need to get Leaburn back to full fitness as this wil indeed be important for us.With one full season behind him he is are main man.
Glad for the time being we have at least one extra true Charlton man working behind the scene, clever move.0 -

Then if you add in Fraser, CBT, Anderson, Payne, Campbell, Camara and maybe Kirk if he stays then you'd like to think that's around 80 goals already.
Throw in a few occasional goals from a defender and we're looking at around 85. Not many teams score that many and aren't in the hunt for automatic promotion.
Maybe i'm getting carried away and obviously it depends on player availability but i don't think these tallies are wildly unrealistic - May 20, Nombe 15, Leaburn 12, Aneke 3, Fraser 8, CBT 6, Anderson 5, Payne 4, Campbell 3, Kirk 3, Camara 2, all defenders 4. Total 85.0 -
5th … with a new decent striker, top two1

8th. Questions over depth and variety of forwards. They win games and atm it is something we don't have.
The goalies need to baffle it out and not let mistakes turn into a habit...parrying shots straight to forwards, poor distribution, etc.1 -
10th.1

Top(I reserve the right to amend that prediction as the season unfolds).1

6th. Not a big fan of the back 5 formation. Probably two attacking players (Striker or Winger/Attacking Midfielder) away from being a top side. A decent striker to compete with Leaburn is probably difference between play offs and promotion0

Last year's predictions weren't too bad.0 -
Just outside the play offs at present
However we need to continue with the amount of goals scored as per last season but defensively we conceded far too many and I’m not sure we have done enough so far to rectify that if we want to push for a minimum of a top 6 finish
Plus players that can play 35 or more league starts to get that consistency needed.
Last season as shown below showed that upDobson - 44Fraser - 41Rak-Sakyi - 40Inniss - 36Clare - 34Sessegnon - 27Maynard-Brewer - 26Morgan - 24Stockley - 20Blackett-Taylor - 190 -
4th. Promoted via play-offs.0

Still a little too early to predict other than I’m starting to suspect we will finish the season with more points than the team finishing second…1

Expecting top 6 so will say 6th.0

Here is wisdom:
2021-22 I predicted 13th. We finished 13th
2022-23 I predicted 12th. We finished 10th.
This season I predict 4th.2 -
I can see Bolton and Derby as top two, but think we should make playoffs as long as we avoid injuries to key players. With another decent striker we could be challenging for automatic promotion.0

If we go out of tHe pizza cup straight away we’ll finish 1st
the longer we stay in it the lower our finishing position

Im gonna go out on a limb and say we will finish in one of the 24 available positions in League 1.2
