As I said earlier on in the thread, it's too early to make informed judgments.

Having said that I really do think a lot on here are going overboard. A lot depends on if Leaburn lives  up to the hype and stays injury free. Personally think he's overrated for his age and he is a couple of years away from being what many think he already is.

Jones is as yet unproven, so Hector staying fit is crucial but unlikely. Plus no dominant keeper. If we get a new cb and a tall cf, we could make the play offs. At the moment the squad is borderline play off material.

I keep reading about doubts over Hector’s fitness but is that backed up by stats ?

If we continue to strengthen then I reckon play offs.

The positivity seems to have picked up, and on paper, we’ve made better signings than last year.  The one thing I think that makes a massive difference in the football league, is how you perform from Jan onwards.  The leagues are generally speaking, fairly tight, which means as long as we don’t have a disaster of a first half of a season, that’s when I would be looking for us to push on.

Great if we can have a strong start, but I think given the timing of the takeover, the signings in and signings still needed, I think it will take a while to click

I’ve been one of the most miserable on here in recent years Re: the team, but like a sucker, they’ve pulled me back in and I’ll say we can finish top 6.  I really hope I’m not tearing into the likes of Fraser again come November 😂

10th would be an unmitigated disaster given the quality of the squad with at least two more quality additions to come.

  • I'm changing my prediction. We'll get chucked out of the league for bringing the game into disrepute if we play like this every week.

Indeed it would but I said currently i.e. as our squad currently stands. As you can see by the 3-5-2 shower of shit at the valley right now 10th place could easily happen if Holden can't get us playing this formation properly.

    one below last year
  • 5th to 8th
  • 1st and I will believe this 100% until we are losing at home 3-0 to Leyton Orient after 10 minutes

Seriously, we will finish in the top 4

It was woeful defending, but we were playing the team third in the Scottish Premiership not some crap team from league one.

It showed that they don't give up, and have some fighting spirit

Few caveats. First, the new signings seem a step in right direction but remains to be seen if they are actually any good or will gel (we got excited about Kirk and McGrandles…Second, we are all impressed by Dean’s people skills and the fact that he “gets” us. But this will be a big test if his tactical ability and this is “his” squad so there is a bit expectation. Third, the new ownership arrangements need to bed down and new structures/people settle in. Hopefully a period of stability and prudent management and a feeler fly quiet time off the field.  Fourth, our injury curse. Please can someone shake some beads or do some kinda dance as we can’t just be that unlucky surely!!  Four quite big caveats but, that said, we are in as good and refreshed a position as we could reasonably have hoped so I’m quite optimistic. Another couple of quality ins and a few more out and hopefully we should be challenging for top six.
Don't know about beads, SB, but I can still shake a tail feather ....

...and have selection of tassels  :p

I'm waiting for our squad to be finalised. By the sounds of it we still need a left wing back and a better defender (or 2).

    And of course another striker.

Not seen us play at all this pre-season which is unusual for me so cant really say. Better than last season?  Top 10  ?

If we can finally get rid of the injury curse, that ALWAYS takes our key players, then we will be top 3. Injury curse kicks in 10th to 6th.

I don’t believe in curses except that one.

5th - assuming we strengthen with two or more decent season long players - or 8th if we don’t

I'm still optimistic of top 6 minimum.

2nd behind Derby. Bolton, Pompey, Blackpool and Peterborough in the play offs.

We have signed some good players already, definitely strengthened, will get another 3-5 in, have some exciting youngsters coming through too. Think it will click this season. Fans being a bit more optimistic with new ownership etc., will also help.
