I'll be happy finishing in the play-offs.
However, like every season I wait to see where we are after 15 games and use that as a barometer for the season's finish.

Top half is about as specific as I can be at the moment. Some good business by end of the window might put us into play off contention but if we don't do well, or enough of it, somewhere around 7th-10th seems more likely honestly

Will go with 5th, my lucky number, based on the current squad, and with the expectation we’ll make a couple of good signs before the slamming shut.
Fail to make those signings and we’ll be struggling outside the playoffs, unless Ness, Leaburn and Egbo return to peak form.
Make a couple of spectacular signings (unlikely) and autos are possible.
This is where we find out what the new owners are made of, and that’ll set the tone for the next four or five years.
The next two signings will be crucial.

Curled up on the kitchen floor crying
  • 9th with squad/depth as is. A couple of quality signings, playoffs.
  • Building a top six squad so 7th.

Charlton Athletic – ‘Signings can turn Addicks into play-off contenders’

    League One (2022-23: 10th)

Anticipation is building in SE7. The Addicks have recently been through another takeover this summer – the fourth in as many tumultuous years at The Valley.

A consortium led by former Sunderland executive Charlie Methven are in the hotseat this time around, but fans are hoping Dean Holden has been provided with the backing to try to push for the top six after two disappointing mid-table finishes in League One under their outgoing, guitar-wielding owner Thomas Sandgaard.

Summer signings such as Alfie May (61 goals in the past three years for Cheltenham) and Panutche Camara (on loan from Ipswich) feel like the calibre of player who can turn the south-east Londoners into play-off contenders. The opening-day London derby with Leyton Orient is eagerly awaited.

Coverage of every Charlton Athletic game will be available on BBC Radio London on matchdays – plus news, analysis and interviews in the London Sports Show from 6pm on weekdays.

I'll go 5th. Derby and Bolton look good, but I don't think it will be like last season where three teams run away with it. We still need a couple of more players in, but I think we'll be there or thereabouts.

  • Playoffs, finishing sixth. Trip to Wembley and another win.

Depends if we strengthen the team further.  Another striker & back up at left back then maybe 6th at a push. At it stands then 8th to 10th.

In a period of 4 weeks in October we play Blackpool, Derby and Bolton.  So agree we will have a very good idea of our potential at the end of October.

Been reading Charlton life all week, and can only see us finishing 24th from all I’ve seen

8th position can’t see us going any higher
Only at Charlton can we not be ready for a season to start.
Three of the players we have brought into Charlton this close season are unfit to play tomorrow or injured. Holdens words not mine.

At this moment in time I think top two is beyond us. But I expect we’ll finish better than we have in the last two years.

So it’s a bit of a cop out answer but it really could be anything 3rd - 9th.

Force me to pin my colours and I’ll split the difference and say 6th.

Hard to tell until we finish our transfer business. Not that enthused by 352 if I'm honest.

Given the preseason games and the obvious defensive weakness, also having only two true strikers and one injured. I think at best 12th to 15th if no serious additions to the squad are made before the window is closed.
    Almost laughable prediction.
    Are you laughing now.

10th-12th.  May has replaced Rak Sakyi in terms of goals , probably.  Otherwise I don’t see us as being hugely stronger .  Yet .
I don’t want to be right , but..

My view hasn't changed, absolutely most definitely best case scenario, 6th. Although even that now seems optimistic

If we sign some players, change our club culture, perform a few rituals, change all the seats, play with 12 men, get a Charlton ref and all cross our fingers for the game, maybe we have a chance of autos this early on.

I've just come into possession of some magic beans. By any chance, would you like to buy some?
