So somewhat cryptically we have it that an ex Charlton player could be our man. Powell, Bowyer or Hudson are the ones we’ve seen mentioned. Technically Chris Wilder was too. Anyone else or have I read too much into the comment by Valliantphil ?

Very left field but Andy Hughes has been on the coaching staff at a fair few championship sides.
  • Scott Parker?
  • I notice Michael Beale is under pressure at Rangers already. Fans are calling for his resignation after being humiliated by, er, a 1-0 defeat to Celtic. Wow, what an appalling result. Embarrassing. 🙄

Anyway, he’s a name people usually mention as a potential manager for us. Maybe he’ll be available sooner than expected?
Being knocked out of Europe won’t help as well as their end to last season.

Scott Brown next Charlton manger. You heard it here first.

Available and was at the Valley yesterday.

    2/5 with some bookies.
Didn't Curbs try to sign him way back when. Unfinished business 🤔 My guess is that Appleton might end up at Fleetwood now, so they'll steel him out from under our noses 😉
I think it was Les Reed

Challenor and Moore have both turned us down.
    So has CP.

There is nobody else out there that appeals to me.
    Let’s stick with Pearce.
Where did you hear about Moore turning us down?
Wouldn’t be surprised but I’ve not heard that anywhere.
He declined to comment on the job to Cawley apparently.
I move in football related circles but that doesn’t put me ITK on all subjects.
I’m a Darren Moore fan, but my info
    is that it’s not happening.
However, money talks and people change their mind.

Similar with Challenor, I’m told it’s about moving here. We will see.

On a positive note: you can’t beat an ex-Charlton player as our manager.
    Are you Phil Neville?
    50% Correct.
    Gary Neville?

I think he is being considerate and spelling out the TLA (three letter acronym) for you. Not everyone’s out to get you, Seth 😉

Well Hudson has just about the worst managerial record of anyone mentioned, including the Cowleys and Appleton, so that would be a shocker of the highest order. I very much the new owners/Scott would make a decision that brazen.

I was explaining the acronym as I know you don't like them being used without explanation. At the same time calling out R.Moore as a wum

Oh, sorry ! Thought you meant Ian !

I wouldn’t be so sure. Apparently he has nothing left.

I've never understood why people get so worked up over Ronnie Moore's posts..

I just ignore him  it's pretty simple really
It can’t be that simple or people wouldn’t get so worked up?

Sounds like an R.D. Laing knot.

Any plans to help Ronnie Moore are totally misguided. He is an effing idiot who deliberately posts controversial views.
He has openly posted on ITTV forum that he comes on here to wind people up. Ignore.
If true then I’d be reaching for the mute button if there was one.
It's true, he posts as Bexleyboy on ittv

Do we know for sure that Chris Powell turned the role down “because of the plan”. Where’s that bit come from ? I’d have thought it more likely he wasn’t interested because he’s already got the tee shirt and probably after his associations with England and Spurs can have some very attractive coaching options without the hassle of tin pot club management.
I'd think there are more than a few Charlton people with a direct line to Powell
You have to believe in the plan for sure but Chris Powell is in a far more stable job than was being offered, pretty good chance he would be number 18 in 18 and looking for work again.
    Is he in current employment?
I thought he was still involved in the England coaching staff Shooters, I could be wrong though.
Powell has definitely left the England coaching staff. He was replaced by Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink a few months ago.

We're told Powell has declined an offer though. That's no critisism of him, but as he won't be our next manager, who will be is the question.

We need a no nonsense dynamic man motivator with bags of experience in L1 who will inspire the team to over achieve. We need a man for all seasons and not just part of one, someone who, at the very mention of their name, will have fans reaching for their wallets and purses desperate to make sure they don't miss out on our reemergence in the upper echelons of the league as he steers us on a one way journey back to fame and glory.

Can someone, anyone, seriously tell me that that man doesn't go by the name of Michael Appleton?
  • Not sure why everyone seems to think Ronnie Moore only comes on here to wind people up. He posts the same nonsense over on the 'other' forum, so unless he's that bored he's trying to wind people up across two sites then i'd say it's more likely he's just deluded.

His most recent post - "big club , great potential.. new owners with money … this club only going one way".

In fairness though, he didn't actually clarify which way.
  • This this is the next manager thread. Not the Ronnie Moore thread.

Ronnie pass the bucket Moore is 70 years old and Eastleigh will be his first manager's job for 7 years.
He only ever works "grim up North" so by coming down to Hants he can meet up with his fellow Merseysider Nigel Adkins and go on lovely walks in the countryside.

Ronnie Moore as an Ex Charlton player is hoping to be on the shortlist next season (autumn) when Charlton are looking for a new manager again 🙄

Shall we start a Will Still bandwagon? He was all the craze last year. Knows how to be a 'Football Manager' inside out...

Solid start this year as well, 4th in the league behind Monaco, PSG and Marseille.

Wonder if he'd be interested in a move to 16th in league one.
  • Transfer window closed. Technical Director now freed up to get the new manager. No doubt there is a short list and everyone on it contacted and initial discussions already started. No doubt we’ve already been turned down by some. Others will be very keen. I think we’ll hear something by Friday although if the man is already in employment it might take longer to conclude.
