They didn't prove me wrong, AEW has been successful because of their ex-WWE stars. That's a fact that you keep avoiding.
The biggest nights they've had, the most engagement, the most talked about moments, the debut of Moxley, the debut of CM Punk, the debut of Brian Danielson, all ex-WWE stars.
Sure they've used that success to build their own stars, but without the hype of the seasoned ex-WWE superstars, they'd be another Impact, or even worse, a GFW.
Hangman Page is a mid-carder at best by the way and only more popular due to being in The Elite, his run as World Champ was hugely underwhelming1 -

You think, with Tony Khan's billions, AEW would've been GFW?
They already had the proof of concept without any of the names you mentioned.0 -
Before AEW was a thing and one of the driving people for All In was disgruntled ex-WWE wrestler Cody Rhodes?
Where the main event featured ex-WWE World Champion Rey Mysterio?
TK's billions helped to sign ex-WWE superstars to make them a success. Doesn't matter how rich he is if the main event to every show was just a rotation of The Young Bucks, Hangman, MJF, Omega, Darby and Jack Perry, it wouldn't have been in a position to sell out Wembley Arena, let alone Wembley Stadium.

And how many of those are there exactly?
Are WWE only successful because of that single ex-AEW star?
Do WWE deliberately pair up their up and coming superstars with ex-AEW stars to help elevate them?0 -

Was it Cody v Y2J
Or was it Allen v Cassidy?

He came back with his AEW theme using his AEW nickname. But yeah WWE is the reason he's a star.0 -
Cody has been calling himself the American Nightmare and coming out to Kingdom since 2016.1

If you could actually be bothered to look it, but as your such a big fan you wouldn't need to, jerricho actually beat Page for the title. Fuck knows where you got Moxley Omega from?

Sorry guys, gonna have to move this to the House of Commons….

One of the reasons I started this thread was to get away from the prettiness of other threads & have a bit of light hearted fun.

Punk's going to issue a statement soon which will be interesting. Having not seen any video footage, Tony fearing for his life sounds far fetched.2 -

You can have this one @SELR_addicks AEW turned Orange Cassidy into an absolute stud, and there's no chance of that happening with his size and gimmick in WWE, and I'm really glad because his schtick is both a throwback to wrestlings silly past, but also a modern take on David Vs Goliath where David always finds a way3

OC v Moxley, Omega v Takeshita, Danielson v Starks and Miro v Hobbs all fantastic matches.
The 8 man tag is a fun one too but not to the same level.1 -
I just caught up with All Out.
Agreed that it was really, really good. Was concerned there would be a bit of a hangover after a pretty mental week for AEW, what with the glory of All In and the CM Punk controversy.
But multiple matches really went above and beyond. The bell to bell action made up for the lack of build in a few cases. The Danielson/Starks strap match was match of the night IMO.Though, the Moxley/Cassidy main event was a fun clash of styles and a really well told David v Goliath type match. Moxley beating Orange within an inch of his life (without the death match stuff) brought out the best in both.Expectations exceeded for sure.1 -
I'm not exactly sure what it means, but it feels like a big deal0

Worst case scenario, they use their collective weight to try and sink AEW, whilst also trying to get legitimate combat sports and Sports Entertainment Wrestling to mix, and drag both sides of their own company down0 -
They don't see AEW as a threat. They had Jericho on the Austin show talking about the product a year ago or so and talent isn't leaving them to join AEW anymore.
I expect both companies (UFC and WWE) go on as they have been. Maybe they promote each others PPVs and characters appear in the other's computer games etc. I'm not expecting anything ground breaking. Disappointing that VKM is still involved.0 -
Sad that Vince is still involved. He needs to take his money and go back into retirement or at very least take a backseat when it comes to creative.0
