Safety first appointment. We won't go down but I wouldn't put lots of money on going up either.
It is what it is.2 -
Very uninspiring, but I get the sense that a young up and coming manager wouldn’t get the support or time to do anything anyway so not sure we’d get a better outcome.
I hope Appleton is a success, but it’s Hope over expectation.2 -

He was always going to be manager at some point. Might as well get it out of the way.26

Interviewer. ‘So Michael, what are you looking to achieve here in the future?’
Michael. ‘I want to avoid relegation’.2 -

What are the chances of the fanbase being patient if there isn’t an immediate manager bounce?
Whether we like the appointment or not, I think we should try to give him a chance. I’m putting the pitchfork back in the shed.14 -
At a guess I think they mean Charlie Methven.SporadicAddick said:

Plum, did you know he was educated at public school, voted brexit, and loves his steak served rare?seth plum said:First game in charge will be at Stevenage.
Win it then.
I think that's why Methven chose him.5 -
Good luck to him.He was a cheap option I guess.0

Really hope this works out, admittedly wouldn't have been my choice but hopefully he can get results improving and move us up this damm league.1
-
I would love to see how far he was down the list and how many others turned us down first. My prediction is May next year we'll be looking for a new manager3

Bang average league one manager for a bang average league one club.
Thoroughly depressing but it is what it is.
I shall give him and the team my full support and wish him well.
But it's still depressing.16 -
Well that one come out of nowhere…25

A statement of intent from the new regime.
I think we all know where this is heading.7 -
He's got experience of League 2 which is handy because that's where this club is heading4
-
my thoughts exactly but really hope he is successful.thenewbie said:Safety first appointment. We won't go down but I wouldn't put lots of money on going up either.

One bloke from Manchester who supports Man United sacked, one bloke from Manchester who supports Man United arrives4

It isn’t all bad if we win, there lies something to hope for.1

I don't think the pitchforks will necessarily be aimed at the apple man, but more the SMT. A simple hello from them all would of been nice.JamesSeed said:What are the chances of the fanbase being patient if there isn’t an immediate manager bounce?

Just when I thought that my interest in Charlton couldn't drop any lower they come up with a truly uninspiring appointment like this.4
-
What else would we expect from break-even Charlie!1
-
Until we get some ownership willing to spend the money required to get us promoted then we'll be stuck with this merry go round of out of work managers and flounder amongst mid table L1 sides.

Not really much to say other than uninspiring and boring.
Really hope it works out but not felt as flat after a managerial appointment for a long time.

I'm not telling him to his face that he's shit

The formation that has served us so well.....MarcusH26 said:That coaches voice video with him talking about 4231 is interesting.... not especially sure that would fit our squad especially with May and Leaburn who should be a pretty interesting strike partnership to see develop.0 -
I’ll reserve judgment, but it’s pretty cheeky for the club website to say he “has worked at the very top level” when in fact he oversaw one single premier league game as an interim boss.32
